I’m not saying good for him at all. I just stated all the reasons why he would be toxic (homelessness, cost of living, his playing footsies with the right).

“The Cameras are staying on”

The same goes, I should say, for Gavin Newsom. For years, he kind of annoyed Democrats, they thought he had too much baggage and underperformed. To say nothing of his comments about trans people and the fact California is too damn expensive. But standing up to Trump improved his standing

Also, Schumer didn’t get anything out of it! Jeffries at least got the pledge on keeping the police chief.

He said he will swear her in this week

Just in the same way government shutdowns never extract concessions, nobody remembers shutdowns
November 11, 2025 at 4:03 AM
I doubt that. We saw Democratic voters’ approval of their party at all time lows and D voters still turned out to vote. You will see voters move toward individual candidates rather than the party as a whole

Ok. Appreciate it. Just didn’t want to spread fear or disinformation.
November 11, 2025 at 3:21 AM
Not saying you are saying it. Just want to make sure I am clear.
November 11, 2025 at 3:20 AM
I only learned about it like three or four hours ago.
November 11, 2025 at 3:18 AM
Just to be clear but this is not the bill that passed tonight. This is a separate bill. And this language likely will be stripped from the bill that goes to conference between the House and Senate

I’d also contend that the Tea Party didn’t do that good of a job of killing legislation. The ACA remains the law of the land. They failed to cut spending or to defund the IRS or any of the stuff the Tea Party wanted. If anything, they showed they like spending just as much as Democrats

It'll open on Wed

And the times they have had a chance to defend trans people, they've taken it. They voted down the trans sports ban in March. They blocked the gender-affirming care ban on Medicaid in OBBBA. But the fact is, they don't have many tools otherwise. So I apologize for being snippy with you.
November 11, 2025 at 2:59 AM
I get what you're saying. And I regret the way I said that (I kept it up for accountability's sake) because it was snide and sneering. I think the point I make is on a daily basis, I see Republicans propose this legislation, Democrats vote against it, but they don't really have much power to kill it
November 11, 2025 at 2:58 AM
It ain't my job to simp for anyone and I don't simp for anyone. The fact is that it was Republicans who proposed that legislation on banning gender-affirming care and passed it out of committee on partisan lines.
November 11, 2025 at 2:55 AM
I mean, historically, shutdowns never yield the results the party that triggers them want. Look at Gingrich in 1996, Cruz in 2013 and Trump in 2019.

And the supermajority had tons of anti-abortion Democrats. Democrats had Bob Casey, the son of the namesake of Planned Parenthood v Casey, as their Senator from Pennsylvania. Even AOC and other pro-choice Democrats admit they only had a pro-choice majority in 2021 in the House.
November 11, 2025 at 2:51 AM
I don't simp for anyone. I've given Democrats hell over the years and said the whole shutdown was likely to never result in their goal. I was just saying that I am consistently baffled by how Republicans can propose legislation, pass it, and then somehow people assign blame to Democrats.

It'll pass. Greene and Massie vote no. Golden votes yes. They go home
