“Women aren’t typically this crazy about politics.”
I keep thinking about how Trump has framed this as "law enforcement" -- going to back to my idea of "making the military more like police."
Law enforcement in this country is so violent, acting without regard to public safety, so the goal was the make the military more like cops.

2026 is the year we level up The Pulaski Institution in our mission to promote democracy in the heartlands.

I’m so proud of what we’ve done so far on an almost non-existent budget, and I know we have a unique vision that is more relevant than ever.

Won’t you join us?

Law enforcement will say that they don't go after people like Bundy because he is "heavily armed" and it is "dangerous." Funny how they only say this about white guys.
The Malheur National Wildlife Refuge standoff began 10 years ago today.
In April of 2025, The Tribune interviewed Ammon Bundy, now living in southern Utah as a fugitive — though law enforcement has shown little interest in arresting him.
Exclusive: Back in good LDS standing, Ammon Bundy talks about his life in Utah as a wanted man
Even with an Idaho warrant out for his arrest, Ammon Bundy said he is not overly concerned about being collared by police while he lives in Utah.

I’ve worked in states where you had to get a license, and it is just a straight up attempt to either intimidate, track, and extract money from any woman who wants to do sex work. There’s no legitimate reason for anyone to need a special license from the state just to dance while naked
A new Oklahoma bill, SB1284, would require dancers to obtain an "Exotic Entertainer License" in order to perform. Those who dance without state approval could face up to a year in prison.

Free speech, even sexy dancing, is not conditioned on government approval.

Trump admin is seeking contractors to build 9,500-person detention warehouse in Dallas County. That's nearly 3x larger than the current biggest facility at Fort Bliss. Plans call for 80,000+ total capacity nationwide.

Dallas County Could Be Home to Massive New ICE Detention Facility, Report Says
The proposed warehouse facility just south of Dallas would hold up to 9,000 detainees, making it many times larger than current detention centers.

I did some reporting a few years ago in various Muslim communities, including the Somali-American community in Minneapolis. It's hard to explain just how anti-Muslim attitudes, which are really baked into American culture, intersect with racism. But they do in a very gross and upsetting way.

Yep, the level of vicious bigotry is extreme and we can cannot give an inch. There is a movement on the far right, supported by billionaires and powerful people in the White House, who want to ethnically cleanse Somalis from the U.S., and we must describe it as such and treat it as such.

always read @natashalennard.bsky.social: "It’s high time that Democratic leaders treat the assault on trans youth for what it is: the attempted eradication of an entire category of persons, against which committed political opposition should be the baseline."
Trump Spent 2025 Making Trans Lives Unlivable. It’s Time for Democrats to Defend Them.
Elected Democrats haven’t done nearly enough to oppose attacks on gender-affirming care. They risk being on the wrong side of history.

IMHO it's just an anti-Muslim freak out. No one cares about this.
Having public officials swear an oath o a religious text is a dumb vestige of a different era. That said, if you’re going to to do it, demanding that Mamdani swear on a Bible is like demanding that I swear on a stack of back issues of City Journal.

Sadly, I don't think liberals are embarrassed; I think they don't like immigration. Clinton signed both NAFTA and the Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act.
And I think liberals should stop taking the bait and ceding ground on immigration.

Immigration is good. Multiculturalism is good. Free trade is good. Stop being embarrassed to say so.

I don't like reposting fascist propaganda, however, on the DHS posts, be prepared in 2026 for agitprop about "election fraud" based on the logic that "the votes of people who should be deported do not count."
