After reading it to the end, those are the two most horrifying words I've read in a WHILE

I was explaining the idea behind "benefit of the doubt" to my kid the other day, and even he picked up immediately that you have to have some doubt in the first place for it to work
I've seen a fair amount of "if you take a nuanced approach/give them the benefit of the doubt/provide lots and lots of context" in defense of both the New York Times and the national Democratic Party and I guess my question is, what have either done in the last decade to earn that?

I could toss out the most ridiculous, over the top response to this question, and probably still be off by orders of magnitude
How many different people's work do you think you've seen since you've been on social media? Like how many different individuals have created the photos, videos, and words that you've looked at since you started scrolling timelines on your phone?

The funniest argument against lowering the voting age has always been “Teenagers will just vote for stupid shit!” and it’s like, friendo, have you seen the American electorate
Always "a 15-year-old isn't a child" and never "a 15-year-old should be able to vote." Smdh

Not sure if it's my MOST woke opinion, but:

A driver's license should be SIGNIFICANTLY harder to get and keep. And anything larger than NIssan Sentra should require a CDL.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

"We have to come up with a believable plot beat to bring James Bond back" is such a funny quandary. No IP is less required to do that. It's like going to summer school by choice.

And at the end, after he’s killed Satan with a curling iron for being mean to a dog, he crawls out of his grave and mutters, “Yeah, I’m thinking I’m back.”
related but my 100% serious take is the next John wick movie should be set in hell and they shouldn’t explain anything
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Imagine being Brian Kelly, and accusing someone of firing you without cause, when the cause is pretty obviously "being Brian Kelly"
Brian Kelly has filed a lawsuit against LSU, asking a Louisiana court to confirm the school fired him without cause and that he is owed the full remaining value of his contract.

His full buyout is about $53 million.

Man, back when Vernors ginger ale and red velvet cake were seasonal things. I grew up in South GA, and just the small breadth of what was on the shelves at Winne-Dixie & Food Lion were the limits of one's food horizons.
I definitely feel like I'm doing the "5 miles uphill in the snow" thing when I talk to my kid about his childhood compared to mine, but it's like, no, I was there, that shit sucked. I remember Nutella arriving at the grocery store and everyone in town talking about it

Debug, plan, and communicate with other teams about both of those things.

Generally speaking your principals tend to be domain experts too, especially in more specialized fields.

None of that is done (or at least done well) by AI!
One of the things I think the vibe coding stuff hasn't yet really come to terms with is junior developers and owners often think the key skill for developers is ability to write code, and principal developers know the /actual/ super power that distinguishes principals is their ability to debug.
