What I learned from Prince and Muhammad Ali was that it’s possible to love yourself so much that everybody else does, too.
The key thing to understand in this story is not just that Katherine is the kind of leader we want to see more of, standing up on principle, but that when you do so, you will face as much opposition from your ostensible allies as from the fascists you’re fighting. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/30/b...

Watch for this “some families” bullshit! Is the NYT gonna mention that the _some families_ are members of PLACE, the extremist group that has zero Black parents on its board, but somehow has room for NYPD cops with a history of abuse complaints? The anti-trans zealot parents? *Those* families?
The Times’s piece is up and of course they went with “headwinds”/but what about the gifted kids?? framing

Who were these families and what was the pushback?

I think I can guess what the pushback was.

“Self-deport” is a whitewashed way to describe “fleeing the country under the threat of state violence.” I agree with Maria here — it’s important to call that exactly what it is.
What. No.

Don't use their language, @newyorker.com that is not even a real word. What the hell is wrong with "flee" or like. "Flee this godforsaken country"

It’s not enough that psycho billionaires have these kinds of sick fetish, it’s that these media outlets are run by publishers and editors who have a corresponding fetish where they get off on publishing fanfic that indulges the fantasy about it. You creepy fucks could just keep it all to yourselves!

Wait until they find out Star Wars Kid was in TLJ
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Beatings every 30 minutes. Beating genitals. Forcing men to drink filthy bath and toilet water. This is the report that Paramount/Skydance pulled down as part of its campaign to curry favor with the President for its bid to buy Warner Brothers. I'll discuss on @theweeknightmsnbc.bsky.social tonight.

This thread of four tweets offers a neat mental model for working with coding agents
In essence a language model changes you from a programmer who writes lines of code, to a programmer that manages the context the model has access to, prunes irrelevant things, adds useful material to context, and writes detailed specifications. If that doesn't sound fun to you, you won't enjoy it.
