Honestly, 162 games is maybe too much but I do love having single season records. It's definitely too much when they're all massively devalued for huge playoffs. No one needs that!
I like 158 games + playoffs - best of 3, best of 5 and best of 7 sequence is a suitable compromise, but any additional games would be over the top, if it isn't already. The elimination of umpire disputes is essential. No umpires on the field would speed up games dramatically.

I am working on refining my Turkish coffee technique. My Turkish friend who gave me the cevze said I needed more foam. This is progress. It's also my first attempt at 130ml #coffeewithhunter

Bari Weiss fully promoting thinly veiled tradMAGA really created an awesome and lucrative niche for Ezra to peddle a Lite version of her Classic blend.

Jack Harrison was one of my favorites at NYCFC. I was still working in an office when he came over and my colleague was a Leeds man. I watched the doc, watched Bielsa coach, and was hooked. It's been like five years now have barely missed a week of @leedsunited.com
But of course, London is both easier to visit, and more likely to be a place you’ll just naturally be going to for other reasons.

How does an American become a Leeds fan in this day and age, given they’ve barely been in the top flight the last 20 years?

The problem is identity politics. It is not wrong for us to be uncomfortable with the identities. It is the identities themselves that are wrong and POLARIZING.

It says a lot about the decline of society that elites no longer turn to a church for indulgences and instead are turning to Ezra Klein.
December 28, 2025 at 4:30 PM
I didn't know the rates Charles. I've played it all wrong.
Cool idea, but... I don't think you can pull it off. I realize I don't actually know you, but you have too consistently sincere a vibe to be-Klein yourself publicly. You'd throw up in your mouth, bare minimum 😁
December 28, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Listen, I didn't realize that having a centrist both sides take on "polarization" could make me 70k an hour.

I have changed my mind. The central problems aren't corruption, inequality, and rising militant right wing extremism.

The real issue is that we won't meet in the middle. Please pay me.
Ezra Klein is cashing in the right way

Premier League PSR rules really enforce a solid minimal bottom
line of spending and a necessary standard for the top level without allowing recklessness. The structures and rules make it all much more interesting.
Watching how different FSG approaches spending on the Red Sox vs. Liverpool should make Red Sox fans incensed.

More video to kill bad calls, salary cap + floor, and something to bring us closer to a normal season length. I like 162 but not the wildly bloated playoffs. New extra innings rules are also garbage.
Cameras settling disputes has made the game more watchable ... MLB needs to take the next step and eliminate the umps completely ... otherwise, the decline will continue.
December 28, 2025 at 4:16 PM
It's funny. I am a fan of a team with the worst record in the NFL and a bottom table Premier League team. Both give me reasons to watch today. Meanwhile, the structure of the MLB and Hal Steinbrenner's commitment to mediocrity has turned my favorite team, the Yankees, into an unwatchable slog.

Go anteaters!
Starting my Sunday with a shout out to my alma mater, @ucirvine.bsky.social. The best investment I’ve ever made in myself.

I will take that point! @leedsunited.com

We need to see a solid signing next month! It's going to be a tough stretch.

Professional sports, in search of every last dollar, have created such a confusing myriad of ways for consumers to access their product, that fans are left at the point where the most convenient way to watch is to illegally stream.

Oops.

I don't know about all that but I would love to be considered among the biggest @leedsunited.com fans from Brooklyn.

I think I need to make an Elland Road pilgrimage to claim the honor.

Working on it!
I take that you are the only high profile tristate area political / media personality publicly backing Leeds Utd?
December 28, 2025 at 3:22 PM
Yes!
The infuriating ways certain sports get region locked is why I point blank refuse to pay for a sky subscription to watch formula 1 and sail the high seas.

Would happily pay for f1tv, but if they do this regional not available crap then sorry lads I'm not rewarding it.

I haven't paid for the Raiders in a couple seasons because that level of play is just not worth any money. Out of market NFL is so expensive!
agree 100%. If you don't live near your favorite team where they are on free tv, you need ESPN, Peacock and Amazon Prime. Total bullshit. I'm glad I didn't subscribe to Peacock last night to see the Packers play like shit. If it isn't on free tv, I'm out.
December 28, 2025 at 3:21 PM
The craziest bit is I pay for both and it still sucks!
They really hate the fans and want to extract as much as possible out of us. The whole shifting from USA/NBC/Peacock for matches has been so goddamned frustrating and annoying. Anything to find another way to get every penny out of us.

They don't realize we HATE them too.

This is what I want!
Still waiting for the PL to do their own streaming service. Would honestly pay for an EFL/PL service to see the top 4 divisions in a single place.

Also, anyone who responds to the merest mention of sports with some variation of "bread and circuses" or asking how I can watch when there are politics problems gets the insta block.
