A few months ago I was at the National Gallery, listening to a podcast executive proclaim the “bright future of audio” while literally haloed by angels in 3 metre tall renaissance masterpiece.

He was out of a job by the summer.

As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

Yeah, exactly. There are inherently two different formats with two different sets of needs (and coverage). To make something that works for both formats at the very least doubles the commitment of time and skill (or budget) if not by a factor of 3. They are two different departments.

Watching the finale of WELCOME TO DERRY, which I've largely enjoyed, and have absolutely no idea how this final episode was greenlit. It makes absolutely no sense!

The swing to go OK PENNYWISE IS DOCTOR MANHATTAN outta nowhere, and then have literally no idea what you'll do with that...

Weekly emails from Wondery so depressing.

What used to be the home of the best investigations and storytelling in long form audio now "why not catch up with the Kelce brothers, Keke Palmer or Dax Shepard???"

Nothing against those shows, but ugh. So grim that it's staggering on like a zombie.

Wrote a post about what I thought was the best show of 2025: Final Thoughts: Jerry Springer by Audible.

I felt a weird kinship with Springer - although I skipped right past the earnest mayor + scandal bits to the chaos and fame arc:)

Something bleakly funny about replacing real unionised actors and film crews making your Christmas ad, not with, say, a horribly crunched traditional animation crew but with horribly crunched, AI prompt writers pumping out creepy uncanny slop.

AI, the magical tool that will make everything great.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'
