Social media very much is politics. Newsom's issue (among many) is that he fails to understand politics exists *off* off social media. All social media is politics but not all politics is social media.
Newsom thinks social media is politics.
There is a reason I have never considered him an actual candidate for 2028. What looks like boldness is simply desperately trying anything he can to get national traction. Sometimes it works, but his instincts are generally so bad it mostly just blows up in his face.

This has, quite possibly, been the dumbest two weeks of politics I have ever seen. Just full on rake stepping idiocy from everyone involved

The only people there to disabuse them of this are the actual mil people there who know better, but in a more degraded US political environment there is a serious risk of chud hubris just assuming their foes will give up and it gets us into a serious conflict.
There's always been fantasies on forums and on 4chan about killing 'weak libs' in cities in a civil war, as well as killing the 'weak and gay' coalition troops coming to support the 'woke US government' which I'm sure has carried onto to current staffers.

The thing is that voter behavior supports this theory
By this logic, Democrats should spend most of their time talking about Greenland. They won't, of course, because they have a theory of voting behavior that basically reduces Americans to their household expenses.
People are waving around 50/50 polling on abolish ICE and in the same poll Trump’s is like 30 points under water on affordability. It’s not at all crazy for professional politicians to think there’s a bigger advantage in talking about the latter!

I mean yeah true but why would anyone want to do that? 🤦‍♂️
Right, like, the only way out of this is not to tear other people who are pro-democracy down, but to form international coalitions of pro-democracy folks.

This, by the way, is EXACTLY what the fascists have done around the globe.

Rifaat Assad, the man responsible for mass murdering anywhere between 10 and 40,000 people in Hama in 1982 is dead.

He peacefully died at the age of 88 in the UAE, where tyrants go to relax.

I've been brainstorming my Star Wars: Supernatural Encounters crossover story and my weird crossover story that takes place in our universe. While I'll easily figure out what to do with the first one, the second one is definitely going to be weirder.

it's always good to come across a pure specimen in the wild.
It's wild how in your alternate future, Gaza is still ash, the border wall gets bigger, more oil gets drilled, and ICE is still getting a pay bump.

The only difference is your mimosa intake at brunch.

Like I'm sorry but this does not project strength. For Trump or the US. It's just pathetic.
Trump on NATO: "Until the last few days when I told them about Iceland, they loved me. They called me daddy."

(He means Greenland.)

the thing that really gets me about all of this is that if you talk to any MAGAs they’ll say “the rest of the world was laughing at us with Biden/Obama, but now they respect us with Trump”.

they live in a fucking bizarro world that is the exact opposite of reality, all fueled by malignant stupidity

I really do think they need to stop tolerating the parties that everyone knows are outright funded by Russia (which, coincidentally, overlaps 90% with these parties). Straight up - if you're receiving money from Moscow, you are straight up banned from election

I’m sure this is going to piss off a lot of people on here but folks come on, let’s be honest here.
A reminder that the same people screaming at Dems for talking about affordability & “kitchen table” issues today instead of fascism were screaming at Dems for talking about fascism instead of inflation & “kitchen table” issues a year & a half ago.
