I feel like a huge problem on this app is an inability to engage with who the base of the Democratic party actually is & how they came about being it.

its been memory holed now but it was a nearly universally held idea that Clinton was terminally (or disablingly) ill in September 2016, together with the idea she'd surely be impeached over emails, visions of a doomed Presidency helped deeply depress enthusiasm and turn out
Think back on the shit they fed us about Hillary Clinton in 2016: her fainting was due to end-stage renal failure, she was gravely
ill, had to take chemo in a special van on the campaign trail, etc.

This picture is so crazy that if you had this as a scene in a made-for-TV dystopian scifi movie in like 2014 people would switch channels because you’d ruined the suspension of disbelief.

I should note that this is NH which got moved out of the "first in the nation" status for a reason.
You would never know it from this website but the median Democrat (a woman in her 50s) is quite fond of both Secretary Mayor Pete and AOC, and would describe Biden as “liberal” and Sanders as “very liberal”

if we're doing this again i feel obligated to say something in support but i basically haven't got anything new

it is actively harder to make any changes to the criminal justice system if the people who consume the most attention are saying things like this

Biden would’ve been instantly impeached in a bipartisan vote if he put his face on the freakin’ Department of Justice building

It Happening because a firefight broke out during a cabinet meeting might possibly be the funniest way It could Happen. (Also if It Happened in 2027 real chance it leads to President Jeffries.)
by 2027, i think there’s a non-zero possibility we get reports of one cabinet head drawing a gun on another one during a meeting because the latter was fucking the former’s spouse

US chaps, if your MPs keep chinwaggging on the telly just take the lift down down from your flat, take the spanner out of your boot, and give the guv'nas two bits of naff all
A tale in two posts.

I think you can draw a straight line from Ford pardoning Nixon directly to Trump v US. John Roberts' opinion was as much a retroactive legalization of Watergate as it was a gift to his special boy. It's been a 50 year GOP principle that Republican presidents are not bound by human laws.
I have really come to believe that we'd be in a much better place right now if we had put Nixon away in a dingy cell for the rest of his natural life, instead of the slap on the wrist for being naughty that he actually received.

Specifically the thing that kicked off the Mendelson row (gonna use the bri'ish term because it's happening there) was sourced from the Congressional subpoena of Epstein's estate.
The answers are: (1) actively prosecuting Maxwell; (2) very little if any of what we have seen would provide an adequate basis for a criminal prosecution; (3) the fact that Republican U.S. Attorney/Trump DOL Secretary Acosta basically let him go meant that a lot of the crimes are outside the SOL…

You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence…
We should try that. Snap elections could solve a lot of issues but I think we should hold a party conference first so we can elect an effective party leader to take over as the US PM.

Thinking on this further, I wonder if someone is scrambling to re-allocate resources from influence ops in other countries to the US & this is the most plausible way they could explain these accounts' change in posting habits.
So for the second week in a row the main character on the site is purportedly a foreign national who's loudly & ignorantly posting about American politics where the only consistent thing they espouse is that people need to blame Democrats (& never Republicans) for their problems.

"Wastewater pumping stations are essential infrastructure, but many still rely on diesel generators for backup power. Those systems can cost roughly $5,000 to $10,000 per year to maintain, even though they’re rarely used."...

One of the startling things you realize talking to folks about WWS+BESS is how few actually understand maintenance costs, especially for stuff like Nuclear.

As WWS+BESS gets cheaper *every year* so to do costs to maintain and keep them running...

I am sincerely happy for the many people who have no concept of “document review”
(4) “the DOJ has a document” and “a DOJ lawyer has reviewed a document” are different things; (5) a lot of the docs we’re seeing are from a House subpoena of the Epstein estate so not super clear if the Garland DOJ even had all of them

It never really made sense for many of you to so readily and reflexively view Liz Cheney’s endorsement of Harris as “Harris moving right” as opposed to “Cheney moving left” and taking a moment to question why the influencers you follow framed it that way for you would benefit your mental health.
