within a year after 9/11 there were a ton of folk musicians who’d taken a crack at making the Edmond Fitzgerald song but for 9/11
You ever think about how there was only 1 to 2 months between the actual wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Gordon Lightfoot recording his song.
And how weird and slightly deranged it would be if someone had dropped a banger about a contemporary disaster on its heels.

most of the time, no. on occasion, yes. send in the random guy with a gun. we are so far below chance that almost no matter how you bias it, it will probably be a net improvement

this is fundamentally accurate but it is actually kind of easy to meet this bar
Also, anytime you are thinking about calling the cops, ask yourself, "will this situation be improved by (more) guns?" If the answer is no, don't call them.

Speaking as someone who worked in a slaughterhouse if most people spent a day in a slaughterhouse they would eat a lot more lentils.
(I eat meat. I do not think most burger-eaters have gutted a large animal.)

Factory farms suck, the vegans are right, but yeah, we have to have a viable lab grown substitute first before most folks are ready to admit that.
(Also if we don't adjust non-lab meat consumption downward *first*, killing factory farming would likely be ecologically and politically disastrous)

I think what is going to happen is that lab-grown meat will gradually catch up with real animals and when that happens we will all quietly admit that the vegans were right about factory farming

the stuff that Congress is trying to ban, just to be clear, is specifically synthetic hemp turned into THC, which was legalized by accident
this isn’t an attempt to go after states that have legalized THC, who already are breaking (and ignoring) federal law
i’m not saying i am for it, but. context

This is a big difference! In one case we have tons of reporting saying "Schumer is doing this" followed by Schumer coming out & saying "I am doing this!" in the other Jean Shaheen was asked "is Schumer doing this?" & she answered "I told him about it".

Please help me understand this vast and deep gulf between "negotiated for a deal trading Democratic votes for Trump's budget in exchange for a doomed vote" and "negotiated for a deal trading Democratic votes for Trump's budget in exchange for a doomed vote with a different composition of votes"
No if you assume he made the deal he acted very differently from the times we know he DID make deals.

The reason I am not vegan is because I like the way animal products taste and the world is too wide to put artificial bans on my own enjoyment of things.
I could stop drinking because it's bad for me. But I like the way it makes me feel and I like the way beer tastes. It's really that simple.

i'm convinced if we ever tried to touch the rail of meat politics in America (something that's going to eventually need to happen in order to reduce CO2 emissions), it would lead to a huge right-wing shock

Great analysis!
Now if we assume politicians can lie about their involvement in things, a deal to trade "pass Trump budget" for "doomed votes on other things" is classic Chuck.

No I've decided that because there literally isn't anything there. You've got literally no evidence. "Well when he behaved completely differently in the past he caved" is not in fact evidence.
