Cares about politics. Elitist asshole about bands and clothes and books. Trying to not age into an embarrassing stereotype of a Brooklyn hipster but I'm sure that ship sailed when I saw Parquet Courts live. Trying to find the energy to write things.
I guess defending feckless, gutless, useless politicians isn’t a demanding enough gig, so you’re also policing the good posting manners of people you disagree with?

My god, dudes, eat all the shit

Truly the popularity of politicians or their positions on issues is unknowable! We can only ever infer if a position or political is possible by election outcomes—but also only those of the last year, none of the earlier ones count

Excellent, no notes
February 10, 2026 at 3:29 PM
Do you think public opinion is relevant to the goal of abolishing ICE and, also, how do you think public opinion is formed and shifted?

That seems to be the most relevant point all the “what do you expect chuck to do?!” folks keep missing

Lead. I expect him to fucking lead.
February 10, 2026 at 3:06 PM
And, for the record, my point wasn’t an organizing dock measuring contest, it was that you’re ill-served by your bias that anyone disagreeing with you isn’t putting in work beyond posting. It definitely isn’t winning over any allies into the shrinking coalition of blue-no-matter-who folks
February 10, 2026 at 3:04 PM
Your point on impeachment isn’t relevant given I’m talking about my representatives and party leaders—Jeffries and Schumer—who haven’t supported or pushed for impeachment and actively fought against it.

Jeffries demand that Noem resign or be impeached seems like an empty threat
February 10, 2026 at 3:00 PM
Sure, Ike. The mayor of Newark has more power over federal agencies than the minority leaders of either house of congress. Thanks for clearing that up for me

Unrelated question, how many democrats have been arrested demanding that they be allowed into ice facilities in accordance with the law?
February 10, 2026 at 2:58 PM
Choosing to see all the kicking and screaming about the supposed powerlessness of feckless elites as one big morbid symptom is a choice, and I'm committing to it, baby
February 10, 2026 at 2:36 PM
Today I'm choosing to be hopeful--specifically that the increasing screeching from the never-ending supply of dipshits, dingbats, and wingnuts asking "what do you expect them to do from the minority?!" represents the terrifying recognition among these people that new political power is ascendent...
February 10, 2026 at 2:36 PM
Hi, I knocked on 1000 doors in 2025 to get voters to turn out (my best guess based on the averages across dozens of canvasses).

How many doors did you knock on?
February 10, 2026 at 2:20 PM
And while I admire your commitment to your bit and have not yet smoked enough weed to write you off entirely as a psy-op, I'm going to ignore you, now. Enjoy the rest of your day forcefully defending Chuck Schumer on Bluesky dot com. History will remember you well
February 10, 2026 at 2:01 PM
But he won't and he hasn't because, by all apparent signs, he doesn't want that. So he is out of step with the people he represents. As one of them, I plan to make my displeasure with that known, loudly and repeatedly until either his position or his title changes
February 10, 2026 at 2:01 PM
Whether Schumer could, from his position as Senate Minority Leader, abolish ICE can be set aside, because if he doesn't want to it is irrelevant whether he could or not.

There is no reason for him to not demand that and multiple resignations right this moment, whether he would get them or not
February 10, 2026 at 2:01 PM
Listen, this isn't hard. I want ICE to be abolished. The majority of voters want that. The overwhelming majority of D voters want that. I'm sure a staggering majority of NY/NYC voters want that. Chuck Schumer has never once indicated he wants or supports that, much less demanded it in a negotiation
February 10, 2026 at 2:01 PM
And I am once again asking you how tf you think political power works.

If you think the limits of your political agency are voting/donating/calling and the limits of Schumer are his Senate votes, I really don’t know what to tell you. I want chuck to meet the moment. This ain’t it
February 10, 2026 at 1:21 PM
What the literal fuck do you think political power is? Something only ever exercised in a legislature with sufficient votes???
February 10, 2026 at 1:10 PM
To start then his position would be more in line with what the overwhelming majority of the public and democrats say they want in polls, as opposed to whatever lukewarm horseshit this.

And then you begin working to that goal—outlining policy, proposing bills, getting the GOP on record opposing it
February 10, 2026 at 1:10 PM
This isn’t about lack of power, it’s about lack of will
February 10, 2026 at 1:05 PM
Being in the minority doesn’t prevent Schumer from committing to abolishing DHS and prosecuting former agents. It doesn’t preclude him urging the House to impeach Noem so he can vote guilty

Being in the minority doesn’t prevent Jeffries from introducing new impeachment articles every day
February 10, 2026 at 1:05 PM
The mayor of Newark has done more good work towards abolishing ICE than Chuck-fucking-Schumer and he isn’t even in the fucking Senate.
February 10, 2026 at 1:03 PM
In short, I want the Democratic leadership in the house and senate to show one fucking ounce of the moral clarity and courage that a goddamn Oregonian in a frog suit has or, failing that, the comptroller of NYC or the mayor of Newark has
February 10, 2026 at 12:57 PM
But to answer your question of what I want, given Schumer is my actual senator, I want him to shut the govt down. I want him to commit to keeping the govt shut down while DHS is engaged in crimes and ethnic cleansing. I want him to put his body on the line standing between ICE and their victims.
February 10, 2026 at 12:57 PM
It’s literally what Schumer is saying here and what their demands amount to—and Schumer himself has already created wiggle room on masks and warrants. Like negotiating on release of funds that were impounded despite impoundment being blatantly illegal.

It’s all just thin piss pretending to be rain
February 10, 2026 at 12:57 PM
The concessions they’re negotiating are that the GOP accept new regulations for DHS to follow existing laws they’re currently violating with impunity

The democratic leadership is literally trying to demand DHS “follow the law harder” and why? So they can appear “reasonable”? “Win” the shutdown?
February 10, 2026 at 12:46 PM
Shutting ICE down and prosecuting every criming-against-humanity motherfucker on payroll is “exceedingly reasonable”; this is just nothing
