Radical liberal, world federalist, lesbian zoomer. Big fan of worldbuilding, alt-hist and shitposting (see rest of bio).

Palingenetic ultraglobalist. Pro-Palestine neocon. Girlcoded Italian futurist. I will glorify diversity: the world's only hygiene.

The TV production probably wouldn't even be good but I just want to see people reacting to it and for more people to know about the web serial
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

The fact of the matter is that if far right militia thugs actually have a veto on perfectly reasonable policy, then you aren't a fully functioning state. And the response to such a state of affairs is not to placate them, but to build the ability to destroy them and restore the rule of law.
there's a through-line in my mind (probably pigeon superstition tho) from the Malheur fiasco to this, where it seems like the Dems really do believe there's enough agitated right-wingers ready to start shooting that they need to walk on eggshells to avoid a civil war

Okay this might just be my optimism talking but I think it actually helps us that CBS forced 60 Minutes to get rid of the CECOT story. The censorship is part of the story now. It makes it a bigger issue with an additional anti-elite and anti-media angle, which has a broader appeal to the public.

What if I told you that there is a variable that's associated with economic catastrophe, declining human rights, hate crimes and sexual assault? You'd want to reduce it right? But when you reveal that variable as "the proportion of reactionaries in a society", suddenly you can't touch it.

See, I actually agree with MattY that maximising our numbers is a good thing in itself and that we should enact policy with that goal in mind. The difference is that he wants to do it by becoming our enemy, and I want to do it by suppressing them.

Our project is about successive visionaries for justice getting the briefest glimpses at an object beyond their comprehension: the promised land. They didn't entirely understand and some might have even recoiled in horror if they did, but nonetheless they build towards utopia. (1/3)
In other words: "yes, you're right, grand narratives are bullshit. They are also unfortunately necessary. So, that being the case, let's figure out what kind of grand narrative *we want*, instead of merely receiving them passively"

Incredibly funny that this was a real email

Donald Rumsfeld was really just a total mediocrity with a lot of power

🧵: The Section 230 repeal effort by some Democratic senators shows that far too many of them have still not adapted to the political realities of the present. They still treat politics as just about policy-making, instead of the battle for power and influence we have no choice but to participate in.

Getting a little bit of joy every time I get a like from a middle-aged person because it reminds me of the approval of my teachers and uni lecturers

If there is to be war in Venezuela, it'll be fought for the same reason as the Caribbean murderfest: neither ideology nor resources, and certainly not drugs. It is for the content. The thrill of violence and domination against those who are deemed deserving targets, which means brown people. (1/5)

The regime is literally just a barbarian horde sweeping over civilisation, burning libraries and destroying morality. Except not as a colonialist fever dream this time, but as something actually real. There may not have actually been an age of animalistic savagery, but they want to bring us into it.

It's good that Trump's approval is falling, but I do think it's bad that it's falling for treatler affordability reasons. It's not a repudiation of bigotry, it's just people mad things are expensive.

If we want a national rejection of bigotry, we'll need to socially engineer that consensus in 2029.

Just had an idea for a very good post that immediately left my mind. I can't even remember what I was thinking of now.

Anyway, pretend that this is the post here. Make sure to share widely and compliment it for its genius.

You can't fix Twitter by going back. You aren't going to make it more liberal in any appreciable way. It is rigged in favour of reaction down to the algorithms themselves. The right way to fix it is to win power and then achieve state control over the algorithms to promote woke cosmopolitanism.

I know it's not worth fixating on them, but there are some disgusting comments trying to minimise or bothsides the mass shooting. It's thankfully on the margins, but any number is too much. If you're trying to make this terrorist attack on Jewish people about any other group of people, fuck you.

What gets to me about the attack, beyond the loss of life and the vile hatred behind it, is how the crowd thought it was fireworks at first. Australians are naive to the sound of gunfire in a way Americans can't be. They've never learned to fear the sound. I wish we could've retained our innocence.

We have to nationalise and then dismantle Palantir. Perhaps we can salvage something and then turn it upon the kinds of people who created it. But the company must go. It is a dagger held by fascists to the neck of the republic. The dagger should not be held there, and the fascists should not exist.
And then there’s the story about Alex Karp’s not-at-all-weird interview (for lack of a better word) with Oswald Mosley’s grandson for a senior position at Palantir.

I don't really know what the hell Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is talking about with killing seals, but I do know that there's another bunch of seals we should be hunting. They're spelled with capital letters, and they're murderers.

🧵: Not gonna name names, but my uncle whose job involves mingling with various business and cultural elites says that a lot of them support Trump. And based on his descriptions, a lot of it is for atavistic 'alpha male' politics reasons as well.

The American elite has fallen into decadence.

Realising that this describes the Republic from @opinionhaver.bsky.social's excellent worldbuilding project
Forming a high-trust supremacist group that promises to subjugate conspiracy theorists and sociopaths under the gentle nurturing hand of harmonious collective existence. For decades, authoritarianism has been too male-coded. This is how we start to rectify that
