"In the first few days after her arrival I had auditory hallucinations, hearing babies’ cries that weren’t real. I woke one day in a panic believing I’d had two babies and one of them was missing."

This should not be a police decision. Given evidenced secretive and unethical use of tech by PSNI already, this is amounts to an assault on ECHR rights, an undermining of civil rights in a ‘post-conflict’ region and an abandonment of any notion of ‘police reform’ post Good Friday Agreement.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

It's rare to see how lobbyists operate. But the Epstein-Mandelson correspondence shows us what happens all the time: plutocrats and government ministers conspiring against the public interest. This is why all lobbying should be in the public domain, but despite Labour and Con promises, it's not. 🧵

Business idea: a scented candle that smells of when you’ve just blown the candle out, while it’s lit.

Marginalia. Lovely, fancy, flirty word that one. Sounds like a flouncy flower. Or an STD. I’ve got a terrible case of marginalia, it’s bloody everywhere. I’m covered in it.

The sea was quiet today, telling me to be quiet. Not quite mirror still, the sound was a gentle swell-rocking like hushing a held bairn on the edge of sleep.

This is exactly the kind of major news I want in my life.

Brilliant 😅

Wikipedia says moles have “cylindrical bodies, velvety fur, very small, inconspicuous eyes [and] reduced hindlimbs”. So, I feel I have quite a lot in common with the little guys.

Nigel Farage confirms that Reform UK will vote *against* the bill to lift the two child cap, keeping hundreds of thousands of children in poverty.

Like ants with their pheromone trails, the workers on the first post-holiday commute back to the office left a shimmering scent in their wake, the train carriage air thick with new Christmas perfume and aftershave.

When you do politics on a shoestring, every share, comment and conversation matters. This message is for everyone who stuck with hope this year when it would have been easier to switch off. For people who challenged the status quo and backed their neighbours.
