Took a day off my actual job to attend the Rising Together Against Poverty conference organised by the Anti-Poverty Strategy Group.

Poverty is a political choice - a particular cruelty to force people to lead small lives when none of us get long on this planet.

The Joint Committee on Human Rights is investigating if the human rights of children in England are protected in the social care system, and it wants to hear from you.

This includes whether you are still in care, or are no longer in care but have had recent experience.

The Commons Education Committee published its report on Children’s Social Care today. Recommendations include evaluating impact of local authories where care experience is treated as a protected characteristic.

An incredible kindness.

My mum died 10 years ago this week. My family & childhood home are over the water. I couldn’t gather with them or go to a place to remember. This year really hurt.

My friends organized to sit with me, eat food, ask questions about & look at pictures of my mum. What a gift.

Great to attend the launch of NIHE’s Youth Homelessness Action Plan this week. Encouraged by the acknowledgment of, and commitment to, the particular housing needs of care leavers.
