This. This is my response when someone says everyone should own a gun.

If your society depends on everyone being willing to murder another, as well as an exponential increase in the death of those of us with mood disorders, your society has already failed.
This; “I’ll get a gun and use it to protect myself” sounds great in the abstract, but a gun is not a safety totem, it does not magically make you safer because it exists in your home. It is a tool that only protects you if you use it in self-defense to kill another human. bsky.app/profile/jsla...
Not having fully grappled with the gravity of using a firearm is so common and shows up in so many ways.

They aren't props. They're a measure of last resort. And if you're going to have one, you need to have really, truly done a lot of soul searching about using it meaning ending someone else.

It’s wild that you can just openly bribe the President of the United States with chunks of gold to get
whatever you want, it’s fine, you don’t have to hide it, just say “I am bribing the President with gold,” zero consequences.

Yikes. Banning people for activities such as co-authorship and advising a graduate student is completely unreasonable in a modern research environment. And a retroactive 5 year ban is wildly unfair.

Gambling is destroying sport but the wankstains who run sport think that sucking on the gambling teat will help them solve the problem of gambling destroying sport
I watch the Athletic football podcast YT show pretty frequently, and as someone who's had to do live ad reads on radio, you can see the hosts are literally dying inside as they read out those gambling plugs theyre being ordered to. It's like watching a hostage video

Literally every rahaeli thread is fifty naive people lining up to go “but have you thought about—” and she goes “YES WE SETTLED THIS IN 2005 WHILE YOU WERE LEARNING TO EAT SOLID FOOD.”
We as a profession have tried all your ideas already! The reason we aren't using them is not that "corporations" are evil, it's because they very simply do not fucking work.

Most people intrinsically want to have meaningful work and be of service to each other. But those who don’t or can’t should still be able to live a comfortable and dignified life at society’s expense.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I am well aware that they are and will continue to do massive damage to this country

but does it feel like they’re on a glide path to successful authoritarian consolidation anymore? I submit that it does not

(Also, I just learned one reason the FDA rejected it at first was that they said the name Plan B was too glib!)
