Me reading the daily Strib
Me consuming news:

If there were ever a time for MPR to drop their “person on the street shares their ill-informed opinion with us” format

If you, like me, are feeling completely overwhelmed, especially in light of the surge of ICE thugs descending on our community, I recommend attending this if you haven’t already been trained.

There are more of us than there are of them. Come with, as we say here.
Monday night at 6pm on Zoom! Invite your friends and neighbors who want to get more involved in protecting their community to an ICE Watch Welcome and Orientation.

“Pull the trigger” is such a terrible metaphor for “take action.” And it’s a cliche anyway. (Idle musing prompted by radio reporting on Walz’ decision.)

I’m sick to death of how frequently people have to ask Republicans to specifically stop talking shit about their murdered relatives
Colin and Sophie Hortman, the children of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, are asking Trump to remove the false posts about their parents' killing:

Siamese Sheep!
Let's see if this will cheer you up - Valais Blacknose sheep in the snow.

They're from the Valais region of Switzerland. Known for their unique appearance, they have contrasting black patches with a shaggy white coat.

Both male & female sheep of this breed grow spiral-shaped horns.

People who love libraries but don’t know that much about how libraries work tend to get all pissy with librarians — just follow Tony for a while if you don’t believe it

"7 years?? jfc I'LL DO IT." - these beavers
2025 was mostly garbage, but there were some good moments.

One of my favorites was when a family of beavers built a dam in just a few days, saving the Czech Republic 30 million Czech koruna (US$1.2 million) for a wetland restoration project the government had been planning for 7 years. 🦫 🌿
These eager beavers saved the Czech government $1.2 million
After plans stalled for a new dam in the Czech Republic, eight beavers saved the day seemingly overnight. “At this point, nothing that beavers do surprises me.”

“Cats always seem to be in the background of director Agnès Varda’s early works and this, her first film, is no exception. For once a fishing village on film is filled with cats, as one would imagine it should be.”
