Dear neighbor,

We’re only a few days into 2026, and this federal administration continues to tear families apart.

There’s been an uptick in ICE activity and immigration enforcement today in our neighborhoods. Including the staging of ICE at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center, … 1/

I’m teaming up with some fellow community members to place a big order with a restaurant that has seen its business disrupted by ICE presence on the south side. And what better way than to get food for neighbors in need?

Burritos are about $10 each- please donate to help us provide 50+ meals!

The DFL (MN Dems) freaked out that Minneapolis might elect a Somali Muslim mayor last November. They set it up nicely for what’s happening here now.

Dear Community—Happy New Years!

This evening, I was honored to be sworn in as your District 5 Park Board Commissioner. I’m also excited to co-chair the Administration and Finance Committee alongside Commissioner Forney.

Thank you to Commissioner @kayforparks.bsky.social for being the sole vote against the MPRB general counsel Brian Rice.

I’m proud to have voted for a champion of working people this past November.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has its first meeting of the term. Tucked in among the Commissioners taking their oaths and sorting out MPRB leadership and assignments is an agenda item to vote on a contract for the MPRB's general counsel. Brian Rice is almost certain to be selected.

Minneapolis Board and Commission applications are open from January 2 - January 25.

Your voice can help shape public policy and have an impact on City services and programs.

Northfield reaffirms commitment as LGBTQ+ sanctuary city
While big-name corporations have been seen packing up the rainbow displays and special logos on July 1, many businesses in Northfield make it a point to keep up the Pride

2025 was a harrowing year in many respects; and the most professionally challenging one I've ever experienced.

But even with relentless attacks on our rights, care, and humanity - LGBTQ+ people are still here in Minnesota and we're finding ways to move forward and to even thrive.

Let's talk wins 🧵

Just a reminder that I have been without fulltime work for a year. If anyone has any leads on political, community, or union organizing gigs send them my way. Really anything at this point though. I have a lot of office support type jobs experience as well.

Goal met in 25 min.

Whenever pessimists whine "They're just elected officials! They're in the minority! They don't have any power!"

Please show them this.
To make this possible, we are raising $2,000 to cover essential travel expenses so that our community member can return home safely after being in detention. Any contributions to make this possible are greatly appreciated during this critical moment.

In solidarity,

We are reaching out with an urgent mutual aid request🚨. A neighbor of ours needs support with travel expenses to return a victim that was kidnapped by ICE back home to Minnesota. Unfortunately, time is critical. The deadline for their safe return is within the next 24 hours. 1/

It’s Day 28 of the ICE occupation of MSP.

Today we were reminded of the importance of taking the time to connect in person, not just online.

This is your reminder to get a cup of tea with someone, to share a good long hug, or a laugh with a friend.

We are resilient, but resilience needs fuel.

I want to thank my constituents, neighbors, staff, and community for making 2024-2025 a successful term.

Ward 9 is different. We are grassroots, on the ground in the community, resilient, and we are the conscience of Minneapolis. Our residents show up with courage and dedication. 1/
