Because of this incident, the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota has opened its Detention Line today (11/18) until 5:00. If individuals have a family member who has been detained, they are available to help at 651.641.1011. Additional resources can be found at stpaul.gov/immigration-resources.

Approaching 3 hours since Katie was cuffed and taken by masked federal agents while peacefully protesting and filming today and our lawyers still can’t get anyone to tell us where they actually took her.

Fucking absurd.

Good information on the street is invaluable, but I'll have no handwringing when folks turn out to observe/resist non-ICE actions right now. Other cops have an easy path to not be mistaken for ICE -- wear identifiable uniforms, no masks, and show badges. They can make this stop whenever they want!

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

I have many options, but these are probably the Most Perfect ones.

(people will tell you Illinois, and I love it, but it needs editing)

this is literally a bad Bill Simmons joke from the early '00s?? Yup ... these are his readers
US citizen Maria Greeley, a Latina who was adopted, was walking home from work downtown when masked agents zip tied her. They said she “doesn’t look like a Greeley.” This is how the government treats people under current deportation policies.

why is so much violence being chosen on a Sunday night, it is the Lord's evening and we should all be ashamed

It is quite funny to me that a founder of California YIMBY thinks it's disqualifying and mockable to be a tenant's rights attorney. Think about who you see yourself in coalition with. If you consider yourself a "YIMBY" but you oppose tenant's rights, you're just an unpaid lobbyist for landlords.

Latonya and Cory this is your lawyer speaking. I am advising you today to please keep writing this shit
Ending my (very brief) social media hiatus to announce that I am the proud recipient of not one, but TWO, DFL Code of Conduct incident reports.

Someone on the Minneapolis subreddit caught Waymos being delivered. We need the City Council need to ban the use of driverless cars. The technology isn't there. Our city cannot be a testing ground for 1.5 ton autonomous projectiles.

For no reason at all, I'm just thinking about how the four incumbent Council Members that the losers behind A Precarious State attacked for their DSA ties got a cumulative 64% of the vote in their wards, beating their next-closest opponents by 32%.

And if you're worried that donating or allocating to HOME Line means putting money in my pockets, fear not! I haven't worked there in over a year! You can support their good work even if you hate my guts and don't want me to see a dime
November 14, 2025 at 7:55 PM
This goes for Minneapolis too. Last I knew, they were getting a big discount on HOME Line's services, a ~$150k underpay. And that's based on HOME Line's very modest budget, where none of us were paid much. I made $58,000/year at the end. Our ED made like $72k. Not the nonprofit industrial complex.
Last I knew, St. Paul paid HOME Line about $25,000/yr. Meanwhile, St. Paul accounts for 14% of the hotline work, around 3k callers per year, behind only Minneapolis (25%). I promise it takes >$100k in resources to serve St. Paul. And yet DSI and council offices will just tell you to call HOME Line 🤷
Rights without enforcement aren't rights: they're homework assignments for people who can't afford lawyers.

HOME Line's research, albeit a few years past, suggests the average eviction for nonpayment (90% of cases) is over $1,500 to $2,000. This just makes sense.
St. Paul offers $2,500 emergency rent assistance for tenants facing eviction. www.twincities.com/2025/11/13/s... Council Member @cheniquajohnson, who worked on this effort, says her East Side ward has highest eviction rates in Ramsey County
St. Paul offering $2,500 for those facing eviction. Here’s how it works.
Landlords can receive up to $2,500 in one-time grants if they agree not to evict a tenant.

Read a Second Book Hive, we need to steel ourselves and hone our blades for the "Let people enjoy things" discourse we're going to get a year from now.
I’ve seen a few folks go for the “if you simply must watch that new Harry Potter show just pirate it” and sorry. No. Just no. Just don’t watch it. At all. Ever. Break free of it. It’s time. You’ll be ok. I promise. I know it mattered to you as a kid. Find new things, it’s healthier. Just move on.
