I first posted this at 10pm on Friday, but to provide a more serious explanation of what I’m doing here:

I've officially gone into business for myself. After being fired for my choice of pro bono cases 3 months ago, I’ve been doing a few stray cases, but it's time to make things formal.

take a peek into the median northwestern suburban mind and you'll find someone seething at the idea a court could order their kid to enroll in Minneapolis Public Schools JUST because the schools are good and it's closer to their home and the community they've lived in most of their conscious life
dedicating more than 2 pages of your Petition for Review in an ongoing custody case to trashing Minneapolis Public Schools is the ideal litigation strategy. you may not like it, but this is what peak suburban mind looks like.

damn lol
Sorry, but triumphant claims about autonomous vehicle safety are wildly exaggerated.

It's an open question whether today’s self-driving cars are any safer than those driven by humans.

And if reducing crashes is the goal, that isn’t even the right question.

My deep dive, in Bloomberg 🧵
We Still Don’t Know if Robotaxis Are Safer Than Human Drivers
And even if self-driving technology proves to be less dangerous, there are many better ways to improve traffic safety and prevent fatal crashes.

Huge news today! That's right, at our Park Board meeting this Wednesday at 5pm I will introduce two resolutions. The first is to restart our Open Parkways work. The second would direct staff to reopen work on following the long range plan for the Uptown Mall Park!

One thing I hope Klobuchar fans are willing to do — and I say this with utmost sincerity — is explain how she’s used her power to advance good things that might not have otherwise happened. How she’s wielded power, especially in less-seen ways, to help the less powerful.

Just run progressives
Not Klob 🎶
we don't need to run a dead-eyed sociopath who unapologetically oversaw one of the most disgusting eras of the Hennepin County Attorney's Office and continually votes for Trumps nominees/judges for governor. people hate Trump so much we can scribble "DFL" on a moldly pronto pup and it'd win by 6 pts

going to devote the rest of my legal career to building up a resume as a corporate defense attorney in order to get a job as in-house counsel with Bristol-Myers Squibb so that, once I'm undercover, I can ensure we get a pristine 4K release of The Heartbreak Kid (1972)
doing normal things with my day (pestering pharmaceutical companies that own the rights to 1970s films who refuse to issue physical media releases of them)

Today's edition of Minnesota Appellate Court Watch will be delayed because I took a case over the weekend with a trial set for this morning. 44 hours notice!

THE WRONG KIND OF WINNING: Across Minnesota, evictions in 2025 may hit or just about tie with the record achieved in 2023. That's not a great accomplishment. Rising rents and incomes that haven't caught up tell part of the story. Here's some other factors: www.twincities.com/2026/01/04/e...
Eviction filings may reach statewide record in 2025
Some 23,000-25,000 eviction cases were filed in 2025, well above the pre-pandemic average of 15,000.

As a SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, I just think the MPRB should consider whether its being a good steward of its tax dollars by paying Park Board Rasputin millions of dollars without any sort of competitive bidding process or a consideration of alternatives. Those are my TAX DOLLARS at work!
And it seems wrong to me that there is essentially no competitive process or meaningful evaluation of Rice's services. He's going to get paid for another year within minutes of new Commissioners taking their oaths. For what MPRB pays Rice, it could directly employ multiple in-house gov't attorneys

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has its first meeting of the term. Tucked in among the Commissioners taking their oaths and sorting out MPRB leadership and assignments is an agenda item to vote on a contract for the MPRB's general counsel. Brian Rice is almost certain to be selected.
