One of the WSJ's A1 stories today was reported *6 months ago* by @404media.co, a team of just four journalists.

The destruction doesn't make for a photo-op like tearing down the East Wing of the White House or bulldozing the Rose Garden, but it's every bit as bad. Generations of American children learned to spell and count, learned the Preamble to the Constitution, from watching shows produced by the CPB.

Seven Points Parking Garage appears to be entirely free parking now (there’s not even any ticket machines) so I don’t want to hear another gd word about there not being parking near Hennepin & Lake

One of most remarkable US presentations at UN Security Council I've ever seen.

- No reference to UN Charter legal justification
- Claims Panama as precedent (which the UN condemned)
- Energy reserves ⤵️ as justification is illegal
- Sharp contrast with US Ambassador Pickering presentation in 1989

She's the political version of some sort of CBS NCIS show that you think is terrible but it keeps pulling in good ratings and is in its 16th season.

In competitive authoritarian regimes, the government deters and undermines opposition by using its powers to inflict costs on those who challenge it rather than recognizing their legitimacy as democratic opponents
The Pentagon will cut the military retirement pay of Sen. Mark Kelly for what Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the Arizona Democrat’s “seditious” statements on a video telling service members they have the right to refuse to execute illegal orders.

This is correct, and part of why Senator Kelly needs to fight it, in courts of law and courts of public opinion alike--not just for himself, but so other vets aren't intimidated out of speaking up
This is designed to have a chilling effect on all retired service members. The message is that if you speak out, you risk your retirement pay.

Important part is cut off here, wherein it is clear that Hegseth is basing this at least in part on something that never happened. It is simply a lie to say that Kelly told anyone to refuse lawful orders.

Journalism is an increasingly defunct institution.
BBC journalists have been banned from describing the kidnapped Venezuelan leader as having been kidnapped.

It’s not even the Nazi bar analogy anymore, it’s like if the owner of the Nazi bar succeeded in murdering hundreds of thousands of people and now installed a machine that produces CSAM on demand. It’s insane that people are still on there.
look its not important where you go. bluesky, threads, substack notes, mastodon, instagram, your college buddy's house where he plays beer pong with raccoons, its not important

x looks like such an insane place that you have to go

Dems would win the battle for MN Gov but lose the war on building a long-lasting base that might even donate or volunteer for them. It’s shortsighted stupidity, which is exactly why I expect Dems to do exactly that!
I know this is punditry but she probably doesn’t need our votes to win; that said, a ticket headed by Klobuchar & Craig would risk a serious DFL base enthusiasm gap. Maybe the stakes are high enough to overcome.
This is my jokey way of saying fuck no, I will never vote for Klobuchar for any political office ever again. Absolutely not.

Ew that Blois was handed the scoop on Walz (gross)

Ew that Walz met with Klobuchar (gross)

Does that mean he’s anointing her to run instead?

Because if so, gross, I don’t think we want her as Governor
