I know people are on this already, just want to amplify that none of these MN corporations are willing to even *mention* ICE and some have been extremely cooperative with them.

Target is a huge offender there. I think redoubling on #BoycottTarget + telling them why helps.

60+ CEOs release letter on "recent challenges" creating "tragic loss."

Call for "immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions."

No mention of ICE.

Signers include Target, UnitedHealth, Cargill, General Mills, MN sport teams

What does that say about you that you are not brave enough to admit or declare for the abolition of an agency that has only been around since 2003, and just swooped in with masked unaccountable thugs and killed two loving neighbors? ask yourself, it is a fundamental question

Can you help us keep this Minneapolis neighbor and her family safe from ICE?

One of her daughters has been on the frontline while also working to bring back neighbors kidnapped by ICE back to Minneapolis. It’s time for us to also show up for them.

The people of Minnesota did that. Not Schumer and Jeffries, not Walz and Frey, not the standard-bearers of decorum. The People.

For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:

When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.

Minneapolis City Council member Jason Chavez has been a hero throughout, advocating, witnessing, speaking up, getting assaulted by ICE thugs, but still never failing to help the people he represents. Bravo @jchavezmpls.bsky.social
Dear neighbor, It is not the time to let your guard down, nor is it the time to stop organizing.

While Bovino will be leaving Minneapolis along with some U.S. Border Patrol agents, there is still no specific plan that has been communicated to the public. 1/

I’m gonna exercise some rare restraint but can’t say I love seeing powerful elected people suddenly rush to the head of the “Minnesota did it!” parade, for all sorts of reasons.

Goddamnit Bovino stole Stuart Little’s car, he’s getting away!

The terror that ICE and CBP have inflicted on the children of the Twin Cities is, by itself, a crime of scandalous proportions that will forever stain this country's moral fabric, and all those responsible should never know another day of peace. www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

I love the Brass Solidarity Band so much, they’ve added so much life and joy to the gatherings I’ve been at. Even in the middle of terrible sadness and anger they lift spirits.
brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis

BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

So keep pushing. Anything short of ICE’s abolition isn’t nearly enough.

And I’d say that even ICE’s abolition should only be the start of ending the violence that came to feel “normal” under Trump.

The problem with symbolic compliance isn’t just that they fall short of ending violence.

It’s also that people duped by the symbols will switch sides to defend the oppressor, emboldening them to become more violent and violate more civil rights than before.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Abolish Ice? No! This fantastic essay details a pragmatic, workable and very conservative training program for current agents that will solve all its problems and address civilian concerns. Bravo!
I have a piece today in Defector making the case for "more training" for ICE agents. A *lot* more training. defector.com/i-have-a-gre...

Meanwhile I’ll start raising a couple-ten thousand cash to put in a bag and slip to Homan here if he totally sabotages the operation. Bonus $500 if he can get us a complete list of current ICE / CBP thug names.
January 26, 2026 at 10:25 PM
Yes, this changes nothing and we still have to ride ICE / CBP out of town on a rail, get justice for their crimes, plus all missing people (CHILDREN!) accounted for / returned. We have to be relentless in demanding ALL of the above, too many Democratic politicians are satisfied with cosmetic wins.
If your Representative or Senators start going "whew! I guess it's ok to give DHS funding now" be ready to get on their cases
Today’s retreat is absolutely an attempt to take pressure off of Congress to rein in ICE so that a funding package can get through.

That pressure has been effective. We can celebrate Minneapolis’ win but we need to keep the pressure on. They’re not going to stop forever.

1. the annoying alarmist dipshits said a bunch of stupid stuff

2. yet somehow, what they predicted ended up happening

3. waffle around vaguely for a bit, without ever reconciling 1 & 2
