Abolish Ice? No! This fantastic essay details a pragmatic, workable and very conservative training program for current agents that will solve all its problems and address civilian concerns. Bravo!

The great thing about this idea is that DHS already operates, via third party contractors, excellent re-training facilities to accommodate their entire force. It's perfect, really.

I have a piece today in Defector making the case for "more training" for ICE agents. A *lot* more training. defector.com/i-have-a-gre...

only one author in the history of English language literature had a cooler real name than the guys he made up: Rex Stout.

There's their idealized version of Eric Adams, where a black moderate, socially tolerant former cop can assemble a politically viable, diverse coalition to address serious systemic problems.

Then there's the actual, real-life Eric Adams, who is a corrupt moron and quite possibly insane.

When I met Jim Starlin, he told me “There’s only one difference between writing for Marvel and and writing for DC. The editors at Marvel are tyrants, and the editors at DC are idiots.”
Jim Starlin rocks.

The biggest reason so many Americans can’t swim is that they have too few places to learn how.

Remember, unionizing your workplace is way past cool! Just like the Chaos Emeralds, workers are stronger when we're together.

An example of a normative question that's been disguised as a theoretical or empirical one. Plenty of cold hard data now that it works, but it's not supposed to. "Dignity of work" and all that. So more tests to convince putative empiricists who have simply inherited cultural norms on moral desert.

I went to an $8 matinee of The Flash and I would've loved the hell out of that movie when I was 11. It's very funny that it flopped and the star went on a crime spree but it's also somehow the best/most comic booky Big Two movie in years.

I was reading some silver age comics to my kid and it led me to wiki an obscure character and so many of these begin like "Solovar was the smartest ape in Gorilla City and an ally of The Flash" and then in the 2000s become this

I never owned a Wii but I'm getting into emulation (cool/sexy activity) and it's truly remarkable how annoying the original controls of New Super Mario Bros Wii are. I don't even hate motion controls this is just a stupid way to control a platformer. Why do I shake to pick up a thing.

Horrific case in Chicago, in which prosecutors sat on evidence that someone arrested at age 28 hadn't committed the murder ... and then made him spend the next 12 years rotting away in PRETRIAL DETENTION in Cook County. Nearly half his life he'll never get back.
