There are very, *very* few YouTubers who put out 90 minute videos where I know it will be worth my time, but Adam is one of them.

Highly recommended if you're a musician or otherwise repulsed by the rise AI slop and people willfully choosing to deskill themselves.

Need less ‘the call to heroism has inspired me to be who i was always meant to be!” narratives and more “this fucking sucks and I don’t want to be here but someone has to do it and goddamnit it looks like that’s me” narratives imo.

I am as explicitly as possible laying down a date-stamped marker that a federal immigration agent is going to die violently within the next calendar year, and that this will retroactively be used to justify policy. I am saying it here so I can angrily quote this at media figures when it happens.

I'm trying to picture time-traveler Thomas Chatteron Williams debating James Baldwin or Gore Vidal on the Dick Cavett Show and am getting second hand embarrassment for him.
Nuzzi, like TCW, exists as a kind of simulacrum of the midcentury public intellectual. Not even ripping off the writers of that era, but imitating a sort of half-remembered, half-invented idea of what those writers were sort of like and what their general vibe was.

One post-pandemic trend I have gotten sick of is how so many people look like slobs in public now.

"But it's comfortablllleeee-" Stop. You don't have to wear a suit, but jesus christ pull yourself together a bit more.

This, and the lack of basic decorum is turning me into left-wing George Will.
One underrated aspect of Zohran is that he always wears a suit, always presents himself professionally while still doing fun and approachable retail politics. You don’t have to drape yourself yourself in hypebeast and post thirst traps, you can be fucking grown up respecting the office and be fun

It's really funny that despite all the anti-humanities sophistry and mindless tech worship of the past 20 years, being able to harness the skillset of a theater kid is probably close to essential for gaining political power nowadays.

(Competently exercising said power, OTHOH - different skillset)
Not trying to pick on Gallego in particular or anything but when people ask me what the difference between a skilled on-camera performer like Mamdani and a charismatic, practiced public speaker but with no on-camera training is, this video is a good example of the latter
Trump’s tearing down the East Wing to build himself a $350M ballroom while Americans struggle to afford health care.

Senator Ruben Gallego went to the site of the Trump teardown.

ordinary americans are filming ice agents and trying to save their neighbors. for all the hemming and hawing during 2024 about how democracy was an elite concern, the elites gave up far more quickly than average people.

There are some people who get to talk like this. People who grew up in an affluent family on Long Island, graduated from Williams College, host a podcast for a living and have literally worked in the fucking White House are not among them.

Not returning your shopping cart back after you load your car is a sign of poor character*.

*Parents dealing with infants/toddlers excepted (but even then, plenty of them *do* return their carts)
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

I will also note that even YouTube is pulling this shit. After the Charlie Kirk murder, it was wall-to-wall coverage for a week, despite me manually downvoting every single of those videos.

Any saturation similar coverage of the largest mass protests in US history? Nope. Makes you think!
They like Trump and want to help him rule over us as a king
More people marched today than at any time in the history of the United States.

For @nytimes.com, it was the 6th most important story.

They are making sure that those in power do not see what they do not want to see.

This is not what we were brought up to think of as journalism.

The NYT would likely have the biggest viral piece in their history if they had their visual team do dedicated timeline/infographic on PedoCon theory. Their readership would eat it up.

Weird they haven't pursued it!
everytime i post "the media likes trump and wants to help him" someone always replies with "yup! he's good for ratings and clicks!" and a way you can tell it's not about ratings and clicks is that they shy away from publishing stories about trump and epstein, which are newsworthy and very popular
If I were a Politics Editor, I'd be assigning Epstein timelines, explainers, etc etc etc. Almost everyone has missed/forgotten almost everything about this story along the way. I'm extremely online and just read dude's Wikipedia page for the first time last night, realizing I knew like 10% of it

In honor of Joe Rogan publicly expressing reservations about the president he went out of his way to elect, please enjoy this (genuinely) incredible exploration of what his Whole Deal is all about.

It's like if Adam Curtis decided to focus solely on morons. It's great.
