A tribute to how fucking stupid Bari Weiss is that her iteration of the CBS evening news instantly became a laughably partisan joke, when the obvious better strategy was to play it straight for at least a few months and keep it as a legit-looking sleeper cell to activate before the election.

journalism is cooked at CBS. i’d be packed up tonight. even if you could do your job, you’d still be propping up whatever this is.

just walk out.

you can leave.

if it sucks, hit da bricks.

real winners quit.
Here's the clip of Tony Dokoupil ending tonight's broadcast by absolutely gushing over "ultimate Florida Man" Marco Rubio.

State propaganda.
"Marco Rubio, we salute you!"

A real thing that was said by the CBS Evening News anchor tonight.

The media likes Trump and wants to help him
Does this mean anything? Stop treat DOJ as if it’s even a semi-neutral arbiter.

Trump approved Trump action. End of story.

Funnier tbh to imagine a version of the Ames obituary written like their headlines on Trump are
@mtsw.bsky.social A great example of the NYT not pulling punches!

Imagine if they spoke this clearly about Trump!
Breaking News: Aldrich Ames, the most murderous turncoat in the history of the CIA, died at 84 while serving life in prison.

Thinking about this again
the connections trump had to multiple "modeling agencies" that were actually fronts for human trafficking is pretty interesting! i mean, maybe not AS interesting as the question of whether tim walz visited china in may or june of 1989, but like, at least moderately newsworthy imho
The modeling agency discussed in this article is the one that Ivanka started working for when she was 14. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020...

Starting tomorrow, the Trump administration is set to send notices to 1,000 student loan borrowers (first round) noticing them of an intent to garnish their wages for student loan debt.

This is cruel and unnecessary.

I don't think it's the best TV ever made or anything but the ending of SUCCESSION notably felt as good as the rest of the show did, and carefully set up and planned for ahead of time, instead of feeling like a rushed, awkward or unsatisfying diversion like most TV show endings do.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

A heck of a chart: in every single one of the 10 major US cities that built the most housing between 2017 and 2023, rents for older, existing units fell—often by quite a bit.

There's a good reason that section 3 of the 14th amendment was written and no good reason that it was ignored in 2021. We'd be living in a very different world now if we had taken what the constitution says seriously
Samuel Alito flew two flags used by insurrectionists.

Clarence Thomas' wife plotted to overturn the 2020 election.

Both justices refused to recuse themselves from SCOTUS cases related to the January 6th plot.

It's a stain on our nation that this has effectively been forgotten.

It's insane that they're covering this as a good poll for Trump. Abysmal numbers on an event that's gotten 98% positive coverage in the media.

I think a key part of this scheme is robbing as much money from blue states as possible in part to make Democrats who are electeds in these states less popular by creating budget crises there.
Fraud was the excuse: this is the real goal, revealed - reduce safety net funding, but only in blue states.
“Minnesota, New York, California, Illinois and Colorado will be cut off from around $7 billion in funding for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, which provides cash assistance to households with children, according to two people familiar with the matter.”

Monstrously cruel.

If ilhan Omar had a "favorite philosopher" who said something like this, the media would literally hound her into resigning. But they don't even report on the fact that the sitting vice president loves this guy, a disgusting anti-semite
Quick question: what the FUCK?!?

Bari Weiss's Free Press website ran this screed by Matt Taibbi defending his lawsuit against a book author.

But the Free Press apparently never reached out to the author. Even though Weiss spiked that 60 Minutes piece for not reaching out to enough Trump officials www.thefp.com/p/matt-taibb...
Matt Taibbi: To Protect Free Speech, I’m Suing the Man Who Defamed Me
There’s a difference between censorship, which prevents speech, and seeking restitution for a harmful lie already in print. That's why I'm suing the man who defamed me, writes Matt Taibbi.

What do you feel like the barriers are for you getting involved in organizing?

Have you tried and failed?

The most undefeated thing ever is retail sales going up once you kick cars out of the way. It has happened everywhere
More good news: Sales at Pike Place Market were up 7.2% in October! Or to quote the PDA's own words the market has had "exceptional sales performance of our tenants." (pikeplacemarket.community.highbond.com/document/fd1...)

📈 So far every month of the pedestrianization pilot sales have been up!
