UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Stefany Shaheen, running for Congress in NH01, opposes the Senate deal her mother Jeanne negotiated to end the shutdown, saying it doesn’t resolve the ACA cliff: “Too many people will see health care costs that are already too high skyrocket even further starting in January.”

The deal, negotiated by a group of Democrats and GOP leaders, funds the government through Jan. 30. If it passes, it will still need to clear the House, which will likely take days.

Asked whether she would be willing to vote down the next government funding bill in January if Congress fails to pass an ACA funding extension by then, Jeanne Shaheen tells reporters: "That’s certainly an option that everybody will consider."

Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

With a “WOW!,” President Trump posts a claim about DOGE and “royalties linked to Obamacare” that originated on a satirical website. That site’s own About section reads: “Everything on this website is fiction… If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

Senate Democrats have an offer to reopen the government, proposing a one-year extension of expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies alongside a package of funding measures in order to secure their votes.
Democrats make a new offer to end the shutdown, but Republicans aren't buying it
The offer, crafted by Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., and championed by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, would also extend expiring health care subsidies for one year.

This Democratic offer to end the shutdown was Sen. Gary Peters’ idea, I’m told by two sources with knowledge. He shopped it to the caucus before it was rolled out.
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."
