Time for everyone paying attention to Minnesota's General Strike to read up on Aquatennial & Bloody Friday - Minneapolis
The last general strike in Minneapolis was in 1934.

It started in May, leading to a series of small battles between strikers and police. The two sides agreed to a contract on May 25.

Employers reneged in July, and police opened fire on protesters who flooded the streets. Two died, 67 were wounded.
Absolutely
Wine Moms and Daycare Dads are rightfully getting a lot of credit for the resistance but also we need to recognize a lot of this top notch Auntie energy that’s out there too doing a lot of lifting

A win in Minnesota!
I’m pleased to have won a temporary stop to Trump's unlawful attempt to slash millions in public health funding to Minnesota.

As long as his campaign of revenge and retribution goes on, I will do everything in my power to protect Minnesotans from his lawless actions.

Makes me want to recommend Underground Airlines all over again.

This is awful.
Today we published an investigation with @lighthousereports.com that dug into a weeklong ICE operation in Nashville from last May. It was notable because of the way Tennessee Highway Patrol worked hand in hand with the feds to target the city's immigrant communities. Here's what we learned (1/x):
Tennessee said yes to ICE—and turned into a deportation state
How the feds worked with state troopers to terrorize Nashville’s immigrants.

I unfortunately don't have a lot of pictures of him, but this is Buck. You can maybe tell how enormous he was, about 160 lbs, biggest black lab I've ever seen. He lived to be 17 & was beloved by all who knew him. My mom genuinely believed he was an angel. He was The Best Dog.

Stinky (my cat) is now rushing to head boop me &/ snuggle up on my shoulder whenever I sneeze or blow my nose. Thanks, buddy.
I'm not surprised, but I'm displeased to report that my test this morning is faintly, but assuredly positive.
I'm testing ok but today I'm still feeling the kind of clingy sick that would've worried my mom when I was a kid.

There seems to be a silver lining in it for @phoenix-rights.bsky.social , who will gladly take me up on extra clingy cuddles.

The cats are also calmer once I gave in to it.

Last month we raised over $100,000 to pay 82 families' rent, so they can remain housed while sheltering in place during this federal occupation.

ICE is still here & active. The majority of families are still unable to work. Help us gather financial resources to keep my neighbors housed.

Four detainees today, the smallest count I’ve observed.

Checking in with my network: observers are getting harassed by ICE, kids are returning to school, detainments are down, demand for food/rent remains high, donations are down.

We’re not done, but we’re in a new phase. If you can, please help:

Little Canada was the last elementary school I attended (5th & 6th) and seeing it targeted by ICE just hurts.
Little Canada has always had a number of immigrants. In the 80s it was Hmong and Vietnamese, now it's Latino. There is a huge low-income apartment complex a block away as the crow flies.

To be clear: that could happen for pretty much any reason under this administration. There's no reason to think they can't tell hospitals to stop giving vaccines, administering abortions, etc., or face the same consequences, again, consequences being: the hospital closes ~immediately.

If you are angry at hospitals for ceasing gender care for minors: any hospital banned from medicare/caid reimbursements would effectively have to close. Yell at local politicians instead for failing to find ways to fund care privately and protect doctors (*and* failing to strategize vs the GOP) 1/9
