The massive growth of deportation infrastructure has been uneven & inadequate to meet the administration's goals. The bottlenecks of not enough ICE lawyers in MN (see article below) is partly solved by denying detainees the right to appeal (see 2nd article below). 1/

"Was also könnte helfen, damit der aktive Widerstand gegen Abschiebebehörden auch in Deutschland häufiger wird?"

Gegen die Abschiebebehörde ICE in den USA wächst der Widerstand. Was lässt sich tun, damit es solche Courage auch hierzulande möglich wird.

REALLY USEFUL overview of the many ways ICE is entwined with sheriffs from @jesspish.bsky.social
"...local laws that require or encourage the arrest and detention of people (even those accused of misdemeanors) are making it easier to deport immigrants."

i had imposter syndrome trying to talk about fascism alongside Alberto Toscano, but i'm glad i did coz it was an incredibly generative conversation that helped distill & crystallize my own thoughts about fascism worldwide today & it's differentiations from the past.

It is great that someone leaked these videos. BUT you have to KNOW NOTHING about how prisons work to be surprised that guards regularly violently punish incarcerated people who complain, file claims, talk to the press, etc. And by "work" I mean that violence is essential to how prisons function.

Hours after I first posted this article, I was told that several VA nurses who are members of AFGE will attend the union’s annual legislative conference in Washington next week to raise the issue of kicking the National Border Patrol Council out of AFGE and the AFL-CIO. I hope they succeed.

More on ICE's purchase & conversion of [surplus] mega-warehouses into detention centers.
Back in the day, critics of the lack of programming inside argued that prisons weren't rehabilitating people, but simply warehousing them.

Plans for such centers and jails in nearly two dozen communities have sparked protests over suitability, proximity to homes and schools.

Is it clear yet that ICE is not about immigration?
ICE just showed up at our house for the second day in a row. Four cars yesterday, today five. They rolled up slow, then got out to taunt us, and take pictures of the house. They want fear to overwhelm us, to project a fantasy of power meant to intimidate, isolate, produce obedience—not happening.

A democracia que nos vendem não é neutra. Quando democracia e liberdade se confundem com mercado, elas passam a justificar guerras, prisões, tortura e violência em nome de um suposto “bem maior”.
