NEW: My original 2019 story on the history of US military prostitution in South Korea, in print finally with photographs from Dongducheon that were never used. A tragic and ongoing saga of remembrance we could help end. One of my best pieces ever. Last of a series. 🌺
The Dark History of The Monkey House
My final story as it appeared in The New Republic on December 2, 2019. Despite the difficulties of getting it into print, it still stands as one of my best pieces ever, enhanced by new, unseen photos.

If you haven't been following along, airlines are canceling flights to Cuba because they're running out of jet fuel.

Marco Rubio's maneuvers in Venezuela are bearing fruit and strengthening the embargo's grip around Cuba's throat.

Please make this call! Cuba is entitled to food and fuel.
Just got off the phone with Nydia Velazquez's office. She's reintroducing HR943 this week, which calls for (among other things) dropping the criminal and genocidal embargo against Cuba.

It would be worth your time to call your own rep and urge them to support this bill!
