Ive been accused of my politics not being valid (despite me singlehandedly using the internet to raise almost a $1M for poor women) because I take vacations or go to nice restaurants.

It is such a farce to believe that a vow of poverty and suffering is necessary to advocate for equitable societies

devastating 💔 my deepest condolences to all who lost loved ones in this fire

These dumb takes always go one way.

They never run a photo of a billionaire in Central Park, calling out a capitalist for hypocritically enjoying a public park like some kind of commie

Great #RonanFarrow post: Investors caused housing shortage by buying ~30% of houses sold, to rent out. JD Vance wrongly blames undocumented immigrants by (1) wildly exaggerating how many there are, (2) saying they are home buyers (almost all rent), & (3) ignoring that home builders need their labor.

Big protests going in Iran, and the state is trying to put them down with force, already killing 3.

I don't know where this is going, and the Iranian government has survived big protests before. But whatever happens, it's admirably brave when people take on violently repressive regimes.
At least 3 reported killed during widening protests in Iran sparked by ailing economy
Protests over Iran's struggling economy have spread into rural areas, with at least three people killed.

rainy new year’s eve here. normally my neighborhood would sound like a shooting range, fireworks blazing all over. i actually like the chill quiet night (plus no fire risk & less anxiety, dogs happier). but i do miss the community all turning out & showing off their pyrotechnics.
