👋🏿 I'm Winifred. In 2025 I:

*Survived a MN winter w/o consistent heat/hot water
*Sold an "erotic houseplant horror" story
*Had surgery
*Did births in 3 diff states w/ 4 diff midwifery practices from off grid shacks to urban mansions to tiny apts

I'm exhausted but I'm only 9% away from fully funded.

A million years ago, someone I knew asked if they could copy my (self-created) tattoo.

I would love to talk to her now and ask her all the questions I avoided then.

I came of age in the "How long are her fingernails?" era so I'm less precious than many people my age about gendering/misgendering, but it's still a bit "REALLY?" Whenever someone gets it wrong just because I have short hair for the first time in...20 years?

My fave was when my then 5 yo kept asking me questions about the spice girls. What kind of microphone do they use, why do they wear boots, why are they called spice girls, are they nice, etc. Gay would have been much easier to explain!

always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay

The thing about me, is that my deep love of folk music and sadness have perfectly prepared me for this moment.

I sometimes forget what's completely ordinary to me is EXCEPTIONAL body horror to a decent segment of the population.

I am my own complete sunshine/grumpy dynamic but I'm working REALLY hard to reclaim the sunshine stuff, in spite of everything.

As a literature educator, for me, poetry begins and ends with Audre Lorde. Every student I have has read “Poetry is not a Luxury.” “Litany for Survival” is the poem that reminds us Who and Whose we are, because we were never meant to survive.

In addition to not understanding that the nice lady who sent me physical nudes via USPS was trying to get at me (for a smooth decade even), I foolishly thought "Hi this is me in a yoga hammock" would be interpreted as a non-sexual hobby when including photo evidence in a dating profile.
It's more electro than dream pop, but I stand by my comparison.
