on the one hand this does seem like the inevitable outcome of giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to a self-selecting group of the most anti-social and self-regarding entitled assholes in an already entitled and assholic population

on the other hand it’s still pretty shocking

I think they should add Trump’s name to all of the federal buildings and monuments in DC. The Trump Lincoln Memorial. The Trump Washington Monument. The Trump National Mall. The Smithsonian Museum of Natural Trump History. If there’s a building that doesn’t say Trump on it that should be illegal.

I started reporting this story after I’d been back at work for a few months and was starting to once again feel overwhelmed by the amount of pain and harm and cruelty at work in the world. Talking to people about how they are finding ways to care for one another helped.

Every day, people across the country are showing up in concrete ways for their immigrant and undocumented neighbors, and every time these efforts are reported on, they become more normalized as something normies can and should participate in.

Huge thanks to @joolia.bsky.social for this reporting ❤️

“We’re going to outlast them,” he added. “They can’t sustain this forever.”
