And they aren't all crowing about it on social media, so let's not assume that all the people in hats and buttons passing out whistles are doing nothing else. People - "wine moms," "knitters," who else do you think has ready access to breast milk? - are working behind the scenes for good.
A detail I don't want to get lost in this: So far, Bri and her network have helped more than 500 families with grocery deliveries and more than 300 with diapers and wipes. In just two months.
In Minneapolis, for every story detailing the fallout of the federal crackdown, there are as many stories of people like Bri, a mom donating breastmilk for babies whose mothers are detained by ICE.

Bri's story:

it drives you insane how much erosion of freedom is justified by concern for kids when the people who actually hurt them will never face consequences

Stories like this are why we can’t let clubs capitulate on Pride nights because bigots might be angry in their mentions.

There has to be a better world than this…
Everyone celebrating or encouraging athletes in men’s sports for coming out post-Heated Rivalry need to understand the context the show exists in. This soccer ref went viral for proposing to his fiancé on the pitch & then they were assaulted in their home after receiving threats.

What this ad doesn’t show: Ring also rolled out facial recognition for humans. I wrote to them months ago about this. Their answer? They won’t ask for your consent.

This definitely isn’t about dogs—it’s about mass surveillance.

Amongst other things, this again highlights the core point about due process. It’s bad enough to be in a “show me your papers” situation, but your precious citizen/non-citizen, “legal”/“illegal” distinctions are meaningless when you can’t prove anything to authorities because they don’t give a shit.

I agree with this, this is why Julia is one of the best COVID journalists and why I have actively avoided anyone or groups who are sensationalist and/or spread medical misinfo.

I’ve also found a decent amount of “grifters” within the CC community who take advantage by being sensationalist.
The point of this entire thread is I want people to take Covid more seriously and I think there are some messaging failures in some people's attempts to do so /fin

We’ve been following Leqaa Kordia’s case for some time, and the updates has been growing worse. Lawmakers were not allowed to visit her last month.

Now her lawyers cannot find her.
When Texas lawmakers tried to visit 33-year-old “political prisoner” Leqaa Kordia at an ICE facility, she’d already lost 50 pounds and was running a high fever.

By Friday, she was hospitalized. But her family still has not been able to locate her.

it’ll take more than an experienced politician to fix la when “experience” means knowing how to bribe the lapd with more funding. angelenos cannot afford business as usual when that business is unlimited support to cops, landlords, and real estate developers. @raeforla.bsky.social is the candidate!
Happy Monday. I wasn’t really planning on getting involved in the local elections this year but since Nithya just announced her campaign…. There’s about to be a bunch of misinformation spread about this mayoral race. I think I have to start pushing more for @raeforla.bsky.social. Let’s go, Rae!
Unlike Zohran, though, Rae actually supports defunding the police
