Being married to an old ass young person will never not be funny.

Because what do you mean, you’re watching ‘In the heat of the Night’ and ‘Columbo’ from season 1.

I know the folks from the “lean on me” era of high school are not on Al Green’s internet talking about “kids these days”…

Don’t piss me off.

baby we were WAAAAAY worse than the kids today 😭 we could be ROTTEN
The ‘kids these days’ narrative is so tired. Every generation says it, and studies show most of it is memory bias. I am a millennial and remember folks in MIDDLE school smoking, cussing, fighting and so on.

The most terrifying fight I saw was in 8th grade. Jonny and Mike, out of nowhere (to me, but I bet it had been building all day) got into it. Mike picked Jonny up, and threw him on the ground like you would see in the WWE except it wasn’t fake and the ground was concrete.

But how are parents supposedly doing different things(non-lazy vs lazy) yielding the same results?

Because the “lazy parent” trope is also memory biased. We may be more easily distracted (admittedly so) but research shows we are MORE hands-on than previous generations.
When I was in Jr high, cigarettes were the big thing. And fights didn't just start. We were fighting our asses off growing up. The difference mostly now is that a lot of OUR generation are lazy parents.

With VERY few advocates because everyone ages out of being a teen and then has new problems
Young folks are navigating the world adults built and are coping in the best ways they know(see)how. The kids are fine. It’s the raggedy adults…

First kid I saw with a tattoo was a 13 yr old smoker named Jojo in 7th grade and that white girl scared me, cuz her life path was visible like NEON

Shaming caregivers over untied shoelaces while the government is letting 1 in 5 kids go hungry is insane. Also doing this while children are still carrying the mental weight of a global pandemic… while prices keep rising and wages ARE NOT… While corporations price-gouge every basic need… WILD.

My kids are so funny.

My 10 yo to his twin: bro, you don’t have any Rizz

His twin: I’m 10, not Bobby Brown

When you collaborate and make agreements with your kids and they clock you…

My 10yo: did you do your morning reading

Me: not yet *laptop on my lap*. Did you?

Him: not yet but I also don’t have a device on my lap.

Me: *closes laptop slowly*
