Like I was saying. Rugpulling the expanded premium tax credits suddenly dumps a few million people out of the market and leads to shit like this as insurance cos react, which quickly becomes self perpetuating.
And that’s how you de facto repeal the aca.

fellas is it normal for a funding bill to waive the sovereign immunity of the united states government in the context of when senators are targets of federal investigation

I thought the shutdown was the fight, did I get that wrong
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare
We will keep fighting

Wow, apparently UCPD arrested 4 people for felony vandalism for allegedly hanging up a cardboard bug and putting up posters. 3 are held on $20k bail, 1 on $10k bail.

UC Berkeley students are calling for a protest against Turning Point USA on campus. Rob Schneider and homophobe Frank Turek will be speaking today at 6:30PM. Protestors are gathering at 4:30.

Wouldn't it be cute and cool if instead of senators being really really really old they were instead really really really young? I'm talking six-months-old young. You get to keep the diapers and spit up in play, and staffers can continue to divine policy positions from their bosses' grunts and wails

incredibly funny that Joyce Carol Oates owned Musk so hard he's started trying to post like a regular person with normal interests

I'm a SNAP recipient... for the last month I was tightening my belt, doing my best to eat cheaper and eating less so I'd have a little left over to help get me through when payments were cut. It was all for nothing. Fuck the dems who supported this.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

I'm hearing the same thing. Dems are nearing a surrender. I'm shocked. Largest protest in history + best election night in years + polling showing we're kicking their ass in public opinion. And now Dems may cave.
It ain't over til it's over, so please do call if you've got a Dem senator.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

This is really cool because MAGA has been blaming the shut down on Democrats since day 1 and meanwhile the Democrats are just begging Trump to take their lunch money and he won't do it. MAGA is going to sweep the midterms lol
I mean the shutdown is pointless.
Because it sounds like the D's have rolled back all their demands and are just waiting for the president to give the green-light on this one year extension and the promise of a vote. They'll end the shutdown for peanuts and we'll be right back where we were.

I'm getting a lot of "LLCs and family trust" doing this scam and leaving kids and grandkids holding the bag
I’m no statistician, but if you buy your first house in your 30s on a 50-year mortgage, and life expectancy is low 80s, isn’t this just called — rent?
Do the math. It don’t add up

Remember three months ago, when we learned Trump was in the Epstein letters and wrote secret little notes to Epstein? And so to deny the connections between them, Trump sent a DOJ to make a deal with Maxwell, who helped Epstein run one of the world’s most notorious sex trafficking rings?

at its heart you'll find rape culture. Consent doesn't exist. Take whatever you want and don't ask or apologize. Every firm you hate in tech is doing the exact same shit.
There is something deeply rotten at the heart of modern tech that goes well beyond the corruptions produced by capitalism.
“authors & publishers who filed a lawsuit against the Sam Altman-led firm have secured access to internal Slack messages… discussing the mass deletion of a pirated books dataset… A NY district court ordered OpenAI to hand over the communications regarding data deletion”

I remember when they schlepped all the way up to the Bronx in like 105 degree weather to destroy Jamaal Bowman for refusing to publicly affirm Hamas's right to armed resistance. Anyway George Latimer won that race with mad AIPAC money
The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...
Mamdani's first statement on antisemitism as mayor-elect got some weird pushback
After someone spraypainted a swastika on a yeshiva, Zohran Mamdani condemned antisemitism. Somehow, this generated conspiracy theories.

The ability to convince capital markets to hand you a trillion dollars on the strength of obvious bullshit paired with the inability to get a single human to sincerely and spontaneously say they love you is some real punishment of the gods shit.
Elon has never experienced this and neither have his biggest fans but now they can create these visuals with the help of a computermachine

Encountering white people (many of whom do not live in New York) who argue that a Mamdani win was a win for imperialism and neolibrealism is expected and yet breathtaking in its caucasity nonetheless

It seems as though Trump's last "ceasefire" really did help shut up a lot of activists though. I still hear things but not as much. It's one thing to doom scroll and get outraged but quite another to dedicate decades of your life to ending the occupation
