I honestly take new Harry Potter licenses as a sign that the company in question doesn't want my money. They know what they're doing at this point.

Note that Schumer is actually trying to negotiate against US on behalf of the Republicans here
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

I never have time for "it's a slur!" because the people who insist you don't say "queer" will never do the same for "gay", a word that was involved in a lot of harassment and violence that basically anybody who grew up in the 80's and 90's endured. All words for us are slurs. Queer is a good word.
The thing about the word queer is that is was, at one point. used as a slur so a certain generation asking you not to use it makes sense.

However, for me, I like the nebulousness of queer. It's roomy. It doesn't require me to explain gender or sexuality.

Which is precisely why bad actors hate it.

Lab leak truthers love to point out that "only" one-third to one-half of early cases were directly linked to the market but you know how many were linked to the lab?

Zero.

Plus if the virus had emerged in the summer there would have been *far* more than hundreds of cases by January.

A liberal supports every civil rights movement except the one currently happening and opposes every war except the one currently happening
The thing is elite schools love to gloat about their "radical" past. They bragged at Cornell about the student takeover of the student union that established the African American studies program. They love that shit retrospectively
"But if the member presidents choose the guise of institutional neutrality as a way to gain political cover, they may now be leading higher ed toward greater authoritarianism."

Well the AAU is gonna love this (miniest of threads)

if economics worked the way Navarro and other monsters want you believe, mass deportation would be a huge job creator as employers rushed to staff suddenly-vacated positions

as always, conservatives lie about everything, and have nothing but cruelty and the stink of Hell in their dead hearts
Peter Navarro: "The jobs report comes out tomorrow. We have to revise our expectations down significantly for what a monthly job number should look like ... Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

we almost never saw pieces like this when the prevailing epstein accusations were based on totally made up claims from the right. now that the actual evidence in the files implicates trump and other right wing figures, we get 5 articles like this a day.
Last week the far right started peddling a narrative that the outrage over Epstein is a moral panic. Today, like clockwork, a more polite version of that narrative appears in the Atlantic.

Dismissed because of jurisdictional confusion, it should be stressed, rather than any new revelation that would discredit the survivors of sexual assault who have come forward.

Reminder that this ghoul stole $2 billion from the United States as CEO of a healthcare company by double-billing Medicaid and got to parachute out and keep the $300 million he was paid as his share of the loot. Right-wing politics is nothing but fraud and theft top to bottom.

I don't keep up with publishing at all but I really thought LitRPG was all Scribblehub and light novels so maybe it's the first LitRPG to get really wide promotion/commercial success?
