The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

It's making me feel bonkers that while this is true in terms of manufacturing consent. It's also the democratic electeds' party line!! They wanted a briefing! A briefing where they'd just be lied to and end grounded anyway! What the fuck!
I feel like I haven’t even been properly lied to about the purposes of this war

It is a little funny CBS was like "We LOVE America and we will NOT apologize for it" about 20 hours before America pulled some classic American Evil shit. Nice timing

Any Democrat that releases a statement with the word "while" in it today should be primaried, if not hounded out of office before then

it is incredible that the entire high level legal apparatus of the United States is "anything that helps people is impossible, anything that kills people is permitted"

I got Jellyfin (self-hosted media streaming software - basically Spotify for music and movies you already own) working on this so fast, and I was like, you know, people are really starting to think about owning their own files, etc., I wonder if I could explain how to do this to other people
put Ubuntu server on it, ssh'd in from another machine, installed docker and set up an fstab so it mounts all of the media drives on boot.... My powers are returning...
I've been running applications in docker containers on my NAS and it is chugging. I have a little old desktop PC I might move my applications onto - I have unraid on my NAS, is there any reason to install unraid on the desktop as well or should I just install any flavor of Linux I want on there?

My hot take is what people think they want from their chatbot friend or whatever they could actually get from journaling (my super spicy take is that they could actually really get it from praying but i don’t think people like talking about that)

I have been journaling off and on for the last few years, and pretty abruptly stopped uhh after the last presidential election, yesterday I was like I should get back into it and today I went and got like. The most boring dad notebook staples carries

It feels like certain types of guys are unable to take in information in solitude. It has to be a conversation, explanations tailored to their thought patterns, with someone they perceive as servile to them. They can’t read an email: someone has to tell them what it says, even if it’s incorrect.

I realized the other day that I learn about a lot of people - jazz guitarists, poets who I haven't read, journalists - almost entirely from their obituaries when they are struck and killed by cars
Bill Martin has been one of the most beloved and influential figures in the movement to retell Richmond's story.

Over the weekend, he was struck by a vehicle and killed. His sudden loss has brought an outpouring of grief and shock from the community.
He exposed the myth of the South’s ‘Lost Cause.’ His death shook Richmond.
William “Bill” Martin, 71, died Sunday, Dec. 28, a day after being struck by a car near the Valentine local history museum where he had served as director more than 30 years.
