the best libertarian is still like "trump's demented behavior and contempt for the limits of executive power are as bad as a proposed increase to the top marginal tax rate"
this is a subject that's near and dear to my heart

1. no you didn't, you retconning fucks

2. your decades of anti-governance "free market" "government never functions" propaganda paved the way for the complete authoritarian decimation of labor, consumer, environmental protections

you can't really do right wing nostalgia for the Super Bowl half time show because the pre-90s low budget shows were dominated by the overtly multicultural song and dance troupe Up with People and an HBCU marching band

not my main issue here but how does a warehouse in rural tremont pa cost 120 million
In the last month ICE has bought warehouses in:

- Hagerstown, MD: $102 million
- Surprise, AZ: $70 million
- Hamburg, PA: $87 million
- Tremont, PA: $120 million
- San Antonio, TX: $82 million
- El Paso, TX: $123 million
- Social Circle, GA: price unknown

This is unprecedented.

sort of remarkable that biblical literalism/apocalyptic christianity is so totally dominated by the right that there is basically no popular movement claiming that trump is the antichrist, despite fitting the prophecy better than anyone in history aside from maybe hitler

I don't think this take is accurate but the show definitely felt more political than it was simply because the right obsesses over the perceived wokeness of an event before it even happens. if you look at what conservatives are mad about, they're barely talking about the actual political messages.
Analysis: Weeks before he set foot on the stage, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance had already become a media event.

But if you were looking for political commentary, the closest that you got was when he said “God bless America” in English.
Analysis | Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show was expected to provoke. Did it?
The Bad Bunny Super Bowl show nodded to injustices in Puerto Rico but mostly evoked wholesome family values that meshed with the more sentimental commercials.

hold on... no sex?
starting to feel like there's a direct relationship between the growing obsession with lifestyle hygeine (no drinking, no caffeine, no sex, obsessive working out and looksmaxxing) and the inability to meaningful moral stands on issues of actual import
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

the contradictions between business and social conservatism are finally coming to a head but instead of resolving anything it just involves online republicans repeatedly pretending not to understand why a brand might want to appeal to diverse young tastemakers

kinda weird that the super bowl isn't free for anyone to stream given what the advertisers pay for the commercials

Was this very mid-2000s emo person press-ganged into ICE servitude?

Trump at National Prayer Breakfast: "So I said, 'Jeff, if you keep taking all the girls to your island, there won't be any for the rest of us.' He didn't respond which was very rude and that's why we stopped speaking. But Jesus is great, isn't he folks?"

richard epstein is maybe the best example of a law prof who passes himself off as a public intellectual but who doesn't even know anything about the area he teaches. i've heard from more than one nyu law alum that he routinely forgets whether he is teaching contracts or torts in the middle of class.
It’s time to put Billie Eilish’s theory of property out to pasture, Richard Epstein and Max Raskin write.
