I see we're doing (re)intros here as more comics folk migrate to BlueSky, so here goes. I'm John Lees. I'm a writer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Credits include Sink, And Then Emily Was Gone, Hotell, The Crimson Cage, Mountainhead, The Standard, Oxymoron: The Loveliest Nightmare, TMNT and The Nasty.
Today I spent over an hour writing a piece for my Patreon, only to get such a sense of déjà vu at one point I was driven to look back and discover I had already written a piece on this exact topic back in October, near word-for-word. So much was going on back then I must have memory-holed it. 🙃

If we’re not careful we’ll end up in a situation where being a friend of ANY paedophile is disqualifying for public office. It’s a slippery slope.

The US extracted the wealth from Puerto Rico through sugar/tobacco plantations for decades while paying farm laborers almost nothing. The Jones act has taxed Puerto Ricans to prop up a US shipping cartel for a century. The only parasites are the wealthy Americans extracting wealth from the island.

Nobody talks about failures.

I tracked every comic pitch I sent.
98.2% failure.

Every book I’ve made came from that tiny green slice.

Persistence isn’t strength.
It’s a flaw that sometimes pays off.

Too afraid to risk asking for something substantial and meaningful and being told to fuck off, Dems have instead opted to ask for basically nothing and be told to fuck off regardless.
This is literally what CURRENT LAW requires. It’s in the Constitution! www.politico.com/news/2026/02...

“I was never a close friend of Pedo Pal, we just posed for photos together” and “I shared my most intimate fears and anxieties with Pedo Pal and feel shocked and betrayed” are each lines of defence that are pathetic but somewhat workable. But doing BOTH at once is truly desperate stuff.
This is the funniest headline I seen in a long time. And bravo to whoever underlined the desperation with the juxtaposed link.

Dismissed because of jurisdictional confusion, it should be stressed, rather than any new revelation that would discredit the survivors of sexual assault who have come forward.

Schumer: ball’s in your court

Republicans: stab the ball, tear it apart, set it on fire, rip up the court and sell the turf to Bahrain

Schumer: hey you guys are out of balls

Republicans: we’re gonna kill your families

Schumer: ok we’ll pass funding for new balls but you’ve GOT to read the rules

Weird, because I seem to recall proscribing these people as equivalents to Al Qaeda or ISIS was justified by senior politicians claiming they had Sekrit Damning Evidence Of Terrorisms that they couldn’t disclose. Perhaps it was too Sekrit for Channel 4?

Yeah, yeah, we know Heated Rivalry is a big deal, but have all you smut-lovers been keeping up with the bodice-ripping oeuvre of Orla Bard’s favourite author Helen Thundre?

Orla! is released on 21st April.

When Farage bleats about working from home making people more productive being "a load of nonsense," he's choosing to reject the multiple studies that have now shown this to be true and going on what you might charitably call a gut feeling, but really more what he's incentivised to want to be true.
I know I say this every six months, but if you can’t imagine how working from home might make some people more productive, you have basically never progressed from being a schoolboy, and do not understand that a lot of workers derive motivation from something other than the fear of punishment.
BREAKING: Nigel Farage calls for an end to working from home and the focus on work-life balance

"People aren't more productive working from home - it's a load of nonsense”

Whatever you do JUST DON’T VOTE REFORM!

Reform is threatening Bangor University over a student society’s decision. The society isn’t Bangor University—but this is a neat preview of how a Reform government would work: public money for supporters only. Trump-style politics, UK edition.

Remember when Charlie Kirk got shot and the right was like "THIS IS CIVIL WAR!" and three weeks later he was completely forgotten about? That's going to be most all the rest of these assholes too
