![Dear Council President Payne, Council Vice President Osman, and Council Members:
Preventing housing displacement before it happens is the best way to stabilize families and avoid far more costly interventions. Because Minneapolis residents are experiencing financial stress and uncertainty due to ICE's deployment, and providing reliable housing assistance through Hennepin County can bring relief, I have signed Resolution No. 2026R-034.
However, I have serious budgetary concerns - both for this year and for the upcoming budget. Paying for rental assistance out of the general fund balance puts the City in an even more precarious position than we already face. As Budget Chair Chughtai rightly stated in her remarks to Council regarding use of the general fund balance for rental assistance:
"This can't be how we keep moving forward. We are going to have a lot of tough choices to make over the course of this year and then as we look toward our budget for next year... we don't have cushions.
We don't have magic money hidden places anymore. And this [Council action] is a reflection of how significant the need is because I know that most of the authors here did not prefer this source in the first place."
While these efforts are noble, we cannot continue spending the City's resources-be it general fund or other sources—at this rate. We will need to make budget cuts because of this Council action and given the enormous costs we have involuntarily incurred through Operation Metro Surge. Continuing to draw down limited City resources at this pace will force difficult tradeoffs-higher property taxes, deeper cuts to core services, or both. That is not a sustainable path forward, and we must be clear-eyed about the consequences of the choices before us.

You need to make the people in your life understand the only way you give them the time of day is if they never let you know their true thoughts. This happens ONCE. And if you don't shut it down, correct it, and refuse to give this filth even an ounce of legitimacy, then you're the problem. People need to know this shit is disgusting. And people also need to know which side you're on - being a decent fucking person or a Nazi. No in-between.
Hanging out with white people means you'll often, without prompting, casually get told horrible shit, like how "there's n-words in all races actually" or how "no woman is biologically stronger than a man, so transwomen shouldn't be in women's sports" or how it's fine for ICE to go after "illegals"
Multiple people in the chats this morning confessing their sin, unsolicited, of only wanting to reform ICE. Startling to see how the psychological impact works so well, so fast, after this morning’s presser.
