I don't understand why more white folks don't see that this is the thing. You're not going to be free of racist thoughts. It's not a jab. You're just not supposed to be, because our society wants you that way.

I do think it's important to point out sometimes that I had to go on a bumpy learning curve, too. I have always been empathic, I have always cared about other people, I have never WANTED to be racist! But white people get to be ignorant about so much shit in this country, for SO LONG.
