I know Courtney can more than handle herself, but she's getting people complaining in the replies that he's running as a Dem, and we need every seat.

So, a reminder: Conway is running in a VERY crowded primary, where there's a literal Kennedy running too.

There is zero reason to support Conway.

"Aldrich Ames, the most murderous turncoat in the history of the Central Intelligence Agency, whose betrayal in working for the Soviet Union went undetected for almost a decade, died on Monday."

1. Tim Weiner proving the pen = mightier than the sword and not holding anything back.
My NYT obit on Aldrich Ames, CIA turncoat for the Russians. I interviewed him in the county lockup after his arrest in 1994, then by telephone for eight hours. Deluded, deeply alcoholic, he thought he could lift up the hood of history and tinker with the engine.

Just a reminder that George Conway is not fundraising right now to run against a MAGA republican.

He is fundraising to run against progressive Democrats.

Communicated today with two European colleagues, one German, one British on academic topics unrelated to current events. However, in different ways both, unprompted, basically expressed the thought of "what the heck is going on there?" I can't blame them at all.

Probably unpopular opinion:

But why are we giving these people coverage/or boosting coverage? It's the same as dunking someone online.

The more you dunk them, the more you amplify them, the more people see their thinking, and the more it trickles down.

What is just crazy about this, aside from the need for this statement at all, is that Greenland already IS in the US sphere of influence. It's far cheaper for the US, in material, security, and reputational terms, to have Denmark continue administering Greenland and work within NATO on security.

This. I tend to be a little more cautious w/ my calls scripts, since I want to push for concrete/actionable results immediately.

But Republicans have always fixated on a goal, no matter how difficult it was... and look at them now. We could do with more of this.
The GOP didn't have the votes for many years but that didn't stop them from pulling out every procedural trick possible while screaming at Dems on TV. And now they're in charge.
Lot of people yelling recently "but we don't have the votes!" True! That doesn't mean "immediately quit." (Also not what propter is saying here, to be clear.) It means create a spectacle, make things cause celebres, make the Republican position untenable.

Create bargaining position and force votes.

PBS taught me English, so... a lot of feelings today.

But it's also an important reminder: people talk about how the next administration will fix things, but what Trump and Co. are doing right now will take generations to undo.

We can't just sit passively - it's about fighting from every angle.

I reinjured my back in December when I leaned over to scrub the bathtub, and welcome to life as an older millennial.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.
