I honestly think the only explanation at this point is that the mainstream (= people in power + their wannabes and bootlickers) actually hates people still fighting the anti-infectious-illness fight

likes hates us to the point they just wish we were dead already
This is just straight up incorrect. “Lagacé-Wiens said that unlike with COVID-19…masks do little to protect someone from contracting it.”
Respirators (masks designed to block airborne pathogens) are incredibly effective against measles. Why is CBC publishing easily disproven nonsense?
Interesting how CBC alludes, in a backhanded way, to the efficacy of masks against covid: "Measles can stay in the environment hours after an infected person has been in a space, and Lagacé-Wiens said that unlike with COVID-19, physical distancing or masks do little to protect someone from

Hospital infection control has so much to answer for. There's this persistent myth that being an MD and being a good, caring, intelligent person are automatically the same thing, and they just absolutely are not. We need to re-evaluate the privilege of self regulation, because it doesn't benefit us.
SAD NEWS 😢

My friend's sister is in hospital for a kidney transplant

Her husband is the donor

There is no mask mandate at the hospital

He acquired pneumonia & is in serious condition

10% chance he will lose his life saving his wife

BECAUSE HOSPITALS WON'T MASK THE F*CK UP

Anyone on my network familiar with social supports in Canada, specifically in Edmonton, where a disabled autistic guy might turn for help? He’s about to lose housing and internet access. He’s brilliant but physically hurt, and he’s about to be on the street in this winter.

This need has become quite acute quickly, and I'm rapidly deteriorating. I'm worried about losing the progress I've made over the past few months.

I know there's a lot of need right now, but if I were to start a gofundme or something to hire some help, is that something people might contribute to?
Hey folks, if you read my recent blog post, you may be surprised to hear this but unfortunately my main source of support has abruptly ended today and I am scrambling to figure out how to replace both boring support (like help with dishes) and emergency support (when I have serious MCAS attacks).
Genuine q for other folks with MCAS:

(please note if you do not have MCAS and reply unhelpfully to this, I will block you for wasting all of our time)

If you regularly wake up to anaphylactoid crises in the middle of the night, what is your support strategy? Do you live w/ someone you can wake up?

gosh what an interesting idea too bad we haven't ever considered something like this in Portland *turns to stare directly into the camera*

on to the third book to try to cure myself by myself

never really expected this to be my life but here I am

at least books offer one of the very few methods of socializing with others (separated by space and time) that feels safe/comfortable to me these days

that sounds sad, I don't really care

sometimes when I recall that I was suggesting my own (spoiler alert: correct!) diagnosis in doctor appointments all the way back in 2018, I get pretty mad

other times I'm just glad to have finally figured it out at all

kinda feeling both at the same time today

finally surrendering to the truth that the pain of getting the gender of French nouns wrong when chatting w/ native speakers is better for my continued learning than sticking every noun into a translation app to check the gender before using it (thereby sidestepping the pain of getting it wrong)

DHS said that the woman CBP shot in the chest in Portland was “involved” in a gang shooting.

Her ~involvement~ was that suspected gang members sexually assaulted and robbed her.
After Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting.

But records I obtained reveal a US prosecutor has since directly contradicted DHS, saying, "We're not suggesting he is a gang member." My dive into how DHS' claims have collapsed:
DHS’s account of two Venezuelans shot by border patrol falls apart in court: ‘A smear campaign’
Immigration officials said agent shot two ‘vicious gang members’ in Portland, but records obtained by the Guardian reveal US prosecutor contradicted claims

A really good thread
Also, gender essentialism ignores the reality that many many men are victims of abuse, especially from other men, and many (not all) abusers are perpetuating a cycle of abuse
