This is now a pomegranate appreciation account

Another thing I appreciate about pomegranates is how they're like sure you can eat me but you're going to have to absolutely murder me first, I won't go quietly

my personal opinion is that the only way past this era is extreme grudge holding and pettiness.

all the people pushing AI? make them eat their words. be petty. hold their noses to their ideas and make them see how much they stink.

all the people in political power right now? absolutely same.

The problem with AI (as currently being pushed within the tech industry)
is the same as the tech industry as a whole:

People (mostly white guys) want to be lauded for being excellent without actually doing the work to be excellent. They want to be seen as amazing while being mediocre.

Mayor Wilson calling nonprofits to scare them with false information is really good insight into how he plays politics.
Over the weekend, the Mayor started calling nonprofits warning them their funding would disappear if this passed. 🙃 Except… most of them don’t even get money from that sweeps budget.

Nice try though.

Speaking as a celiac person whose body is incapacitated with pain for 24-48 hrs after eating gluten, let me tell you there is no way in hell I would trust a shoddy fucking AI basket to tell me what products are safe or not.

A lot of ingredients we have to avoid aren't immediately obvious.
“The AI agent could also assist customers mid-shop, including by making sure that nothing a customer has selected contains an unwanted ingredient…”

"At the end of the shop, you could say, 'Check my entire basket for any gluten,'" [instacart CEO] Rogers said on the call.”
Instacart is betting on AI shopping carts that suggest what you should buy as you shop
Instacart is rolling out AI versions of its Caper carts. CEO Chris Rogers says its data helps it make recommendations and guide shoppers.

In addition to the ACA disaster, in the past week I've gotten email from my chiropractor telling patients they won't be continuing to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and from my Lyme specialist saying they'll no longer accept Aetna or Providence plans.

What the FUCK are we doing here people?

it's so demoralizing...I'm probs gonna stay off the internet for a while, I am so upset about this

Every few weeks we gotta make posts like this”call your dem reps to tell them to not vote to allow Lord Killdude to shove people into a volcano” and then the dem reps go “we’ve made an amazing deal where Lord Killdude can have his volcano so long as he promises not to shove people into it”

Kaine, Hassan, Shaheen, King are yeses.

Not enough!

Any more confirmed yeses?
Okay, much confusion, but a thing I see clearly is that the Gang of 8 senators who worked toward a compromise this week while keeping Schumer apprised were not working for THIS compromise. More than one of them (Slotkin, Baldwin) have come out against tonight’s minibus.

Which means

It was a corporate dem that killed the public option and now corporate Dems are totally screwing over people forced to use this stupid system, as we go back to millions and millions of people without any health insurance. Tell me again how Mamdani-style politics are not the future?

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

I have disliked Angus fucking King ever since I was in fifth grade and had to watch his smarmy sexist jerk self run for (and win) the Maine state governor seat.

Maine is not bringing their best on the national political stage these days jfc
CNN, CBS, others report that at least 8 Dems have reached a deal to end the shutdown

Asking anyone who's got energy to do so to call their Dem Senators and urge them not to back down on healthcare. 🙏

Your friends who are too sick to work to access healthcare are going to be really fucked otherwise. Being too sick to work means no paycheck to cover now-exorbitant marketplace plans.

Unacceptable. There are 189,000 people in my district who will be paying 50–300% more for the same, and in many cases worse, healthcare.

I won’t do that to the people I represent. I’m a NO on this “deal.”

tech companies & executives are not scared enough of the consequences of harming people. they know they're ultimately very insulated from the blowback for wildly reckless experiments on people; that makes for a very unhealthy environment that we need to fix now

tech co's should be scared of people
