Gonna be That Guy and share a thing our family does. We have a household@[familydomain] address that goes to my wife and I that we use for a bunch of stuff like this

(also if you want to ditch Gmail, Fastmail's pretty good)

(we also have receipts@[familydomain] which helps on junk)
I have two teens and after all this time it is still wild to me how many educators and care providers and administrators will meet both my spouse and me in person, talk with us, work with us etc. for months or years and still. only. email. or. call. me. Why??? I mean, I know why, but

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail

Does "coded as" essentially mean the same thing as "portrayed as" or "written as" or is there also something else going on?

Pouring one out again on a Monday morning for the systems thinkers who have gazed into the abyss and now the abyss is inside them
the systems thinking angle: even when you fully understand “the system” as you’ve defined it, you can always zoom out to a bigger system you do not understand, which affects and is affected by your more narrowly defined system. a fixed “the system” is a convenient fiction
two other counterpoints: 1. there are abstractions, even in system software, and 2. even if the systems programmer understands the system from their layer down, they still don’t understand the broader system that their software is a part of

"The sun emits the most visible light" is also a reminder of the opposite; the light we evolved to see is the light most emitted by the sun, and that's what happened to determine colors to us.

Question for you & your tech followers

Anyone got a recommended replacement for a Ring doorbell and floodlight that isn't doing all this shit?

Our Echo is primarily used for voice activated lights and checking the weather. That's probably pretty easily replaceable with something else right?

After the Washington Post's destruction I had misunderstood this as the demise of McSweeney's as well.
McSweeney going is excellent news. It doesn't fix any problems by itself, but it is the precondition for fixing those problems.
