I made a joke in line at Chipotle about how “apparently there’s a sportsball thing happening tonight” and everyone was so delighted by my cynical charm that they let me go behind the counter and eat the toppings directly out of the containers.

Dan’s piece is extremely good. I’m honored to be connected with the whistle crew, and it’s very fun to joke about my vertically integrated whistle packing party supply chain

Lemme tell you, getting unmarked ziploc bags of 200 whistles in my mailbox made me feel like I was a freaking spy.

A neighbor asked me if I knew where to get a free whistle. I asked for a bunch from @dansinker.com's whistle crew and put bowls of them out at my workshop and apt courtyard, and my neighbors are taking them and we're talking together about anti-ICE actions.
Re: craftivism; we don't know what's gonna work til we do it. If you had told me last year that 3d printed whistles were going to be the big deal thing that really fucks up the gestapo... i'd have believed you because this moment is very weird BUT I'd have had to stare at the horizon for a minute.

Gonna drop off my 5,000th whistle tomorrow - between the in persons and being in the inbox fielding the requests, I gotta say it’s been extremely motivating to see just how many people are taking steps to try and protect their communities, especially considering we’re just one group of whistlesmiths

It's pretty clear most of the people with power aren't gonna show up for us. But we can show up for each other every day, and we don't have to wait for them to give us permission.

And I can't tell you how much hope you can have when you're talking to organizers kicking ass every day.

I told @ziibiing.com a few days ago that I wanted to sponsor rent for a family in Minneapolis, but then my brain collapsed. So @lefttheprairie.bsky.social used $3,300 of our surplus money from our GFM to pay the rent.

We were going to fundraise to get it back, but I'd rather you send it here!
We’ve paid rent for over 270 households so far in February and we currently have a waitlist that totals over $30,000.

We distributed rents one by one.
We can’t even think about March rent yet.

Abolish.

You can’t bodycam this shit.

Abolish must be the hard red line.
ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

In Minnesota, ICE agents are illegally racially profiling residents, drawing weapons during arrests, claiming people’s citizenship documents are fake, and leaving people with long-lasting injuries.

There is no excuse for Democrats to continue funding these jackbooted thugs.

Because Democrats have been voting with Republicans in bipartisan support of the fascist ICE agency going back to 2003 when George Bush started it, with increases in funding & detentions of innocent people year over year over year. That's why.

I know we have to stand together with everyone who means well and does good, but making puns with the names of the dead and fixating on their US citizenship are both so icky to me. If you’re making a protest sign, could you pic a different direction?

Would love to see more of the angle followed by journalists to show how much we’re spending to detain or deport each person. But also how their efficiency of abduction is getting smaller and smaller. They have to use 20 agents just to change a flat
I'm really asking: What is the math on all of this? If Metro Surge started Dec 1, and they claim to have deported 4,000 people, at a cost of $18 million a week, and it's been ten weeks, they show no sign of leaving, and we leave out the murders—$2billion to destroy us?
