Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.

Everyone here has had to decide what they will and won’t do. Will you take someone in your house? Will you bring them groceries? Will you patrol streets with a whistle? Will you do some other kind of work, of which there are many. And how many of these types.
Friends from Minneapolis reporting to me that things are at the point where folks are being hidden in other people's houses and we are in the "again" part of "never again" which the "never" was supposed to preclude

We’re never going to turn our backs on our neighbors and stop exercising our constitutional rights. No amount of meetings with Tom Homan or anyone in the Trump administration will change our community’s resolve.
This only ends when every DHS agent leaves and they no longer exist to terrorize us.

Quite frankly, it is absurd to have beige dune buggies in this climate, and especially so with the canvas flapping away in the breeze on the frozen streets.

Honestly, it goes beyond "can't give them any of my money." As a Jewish, Romani, and queer person, I won't give attention or page views to a website that enriches people who want to kill me and my communities. I can't trust people who align with white power or maintain proximity for their own gain.

As a fellow journalist who left the news for very similar reasons, I appreciate what you've said here; however, using Substack undermines your arguments about ethics. That platform is not ethical. It knowingly profits off of swastika-bedecked Nazis. I strongly recommend using a different service.

I want real safety, not weasel words whining that ICE should follow existing law. 🙄
