If I had to write a bio for a dating site, I'd end up single forever.
she/her
Now that I have seen this, there will forever be something missing in my life.

Lolita stuff, gross, etc

But the other takeaway here is that apparently Larry Summers' wife is the only one in the whole cabal who can put together a coherent sentence?
Larry Summers wife emailed Epstein telling him that he'd love Lolita just like 7 years ago lol

On top of everything side, this man was abusing the High Importance flag into utter meaninglessness
Huge thank you to @paulgp.com for making these emails accessible. Y'all, this is Joi Ito, of MIT fame, who ran a fund called Neoteny and fled to Japan when all this broke, joking with Epstein about being deposed regarding his relationship with Trump in 2016.

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

We are going to reach the heat death of the universe before "Clinton + Ken Starr" becomes an irrelevant news search parameter
Republican legal icon and Clinton scourge Ken Starr signs off a touching note to Jeffrey Epstein with "hugs." Amazing.

Dying laughing at this thread.
Also dying of preemptive embarrassment in case I ever find the opportunity to visit Ireland.
I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

Tanks

Everyone. EVERYONE. Should be listening to the History of English podcast.
(That's literally the name. By Kevin Stroud. It's great!)
Incidentally, this is why I’m against strict spelling. Words should be spelled the way they sound & we spell words as if we’re speaking Middle English for ridiculous class reasons

In ME you’d pronounce the k in “knight” but some dumbass needed to prove he was cool & now we have a literacy problem
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

Florida would like to join our ancient English comrades in saying

You can build whatever you want on top of filled-in waterways! It's fine! It will last forever! Don't worry at all! Build build build!
i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them

An office comedy where we spend 2 hours following the on-boarding of a new Bond. He meets Moneypenny, gets his door badge, learns how to use the interoffice mail, sets a new computer password, the running joke is that no one will tell him what happened to the last guy
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

I had to go look up this list and it is soooo bad you guys 😬

Not one thing you should base a life on, barely even anything you should waste an afternoon on. Your life plan would be better off from scrolling TikTok for however long it takes to read them. If reading a real book isn't an option.

If you ever wondered why we're still singing that song....

(Or if you currently work in the white house and ever wondered why we should KEEP FUNDING NOAA LIKE LIVES DEPEND ON IT)
In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

This is why I just don't eat out anymore. I can make it better AND cheaper at home, it'll be a quieter and calmer environment, and Sysco was nowhere near any of it?
Sign me right up. It's even worth doing the dishes.
The restaurant where I order my poke bowl changed their ingredients and upped the price. So I get less fresh food, more ultra processed crap, AND I have to pay more for that 🙄

So fine, I bought everything I need to make them now because fuck that shit

Like $25 for a rice bowl like come on

Star Trek wins again ❤️
Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).

A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.
a man with a mustache says there be whales here in a dark room
Alt: Scotty from Star Trek Original Series (played by Jimmy Doohan) says there be whales here in a Klingon vessel's cargo hold.

I'm not a hardliner on term limits but this man is older than my father, has been in the Senate since before I could vote, has been in Congress since before I could reliably WALK on my own, and MAYBE THAT'S NOT GREAT.
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Uhh, I definitely turned this on but I just had to turn it on AGAIN, so ..... maybe go and check ALL your settings are where you thought they were.
Oh so in addition to banning some of my favorite users and muting a bunch of others, Bluesky has decided to flip my "don't post without alt text" setting back off.

IT SHOULD BE ON BY DEFAULT.

No retail establishment has yet hired an employee that can defeat my skill at avoiding eye contact.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

I spent the entire book wanting to throw Victor out a high window after thoroughly insulting his manhood, but, sadly, Victor is fictional.
Victor Frankenstein has just spent an inordinate amount of time explaining why his misery and guilt at having caused the death of two people dear to him is SO MUCH WORSE than the deaths of these people, and I want to shake him so hard his teeth rattle.
