Tonight the Washington Monument is the centerpiece for inaugural "Freedom 250" celebrations. A light show on the monument depicts a brief and sanitized version of US history. The event is part of a year long celebration of the US' 250th anniversary.

Seeing DFD, one of my favorite bands, a local Bmore band, play their secret song on MTV (you had to hold the CD player's back button on track one for about 30 seconds to reveal the song) was wild. I must have passed out demos, flyers and stickers across DC, MD, VA, NC and GA as a teen.
