If you're still probing the Steam sales, I'm having a lot of fun right now with Unavowed from @wadjeteyegames.bsky.social. Point-and-click adventure with pretty chill gameplay, entertaining party dynamic, and Hellblazer-esque urban fantasy in sort of a retro-present-day NYC.

"This story doesn't need a sandworm"

This is almost always wrong. Arguably, EVERY story benefits from adding a huge subterranean worm with quasi-mystical or semi-supernatural powers, or equivalent (similar to Moby Dick).

Obviously the bigger the worm, the more literary quality it adds.

Amid a concerted reactionary push to control culture it is still very interesting to me that there's so little critical feminist analysis of one of the most wildly popular forms of women's media.
"It's feminist to be horny for fascists. The more fascist the man, the more feminist it is. You just have to make sure to say 'I WILL CURE HIM WITH MY WOMB' and bear him children, because no man with children has ever been a bad person. Telling me not to do this is basically 1984." -- Mary Morgan

Last week @theverge.com published my essay exploring the limitations of large-language models. This week, that same essay is cited by a federal judge in Michigan to distinguish the process of human reasoning from what these models do. Very, very gratifying.

holy shit, an accurate legal critique of LLMs. LLMs don't reason because they're just stitching together plausible-looking sentences indifferent to the content
