In my case rn the big thing is retrocausality. My current understanding is that there's real evidence of retrocausality occurring, but it's not like some big lodestone idea in the sciences. Not like gravity, which arguably gets played around with a lot more in SFF stuff

I’m seeing a fair bit of commentary about the Stranger Things finale along the lines of it needing more or feeling anticlimactic and I think that’s because the central conflicts of the show don’t have much thematic weight to them

Sometimes I worry about whether I'm applying a science concept right as I work on this sci-fi project, but I also feel like half the fun of sci-fi is how it lets you converse with science while not having to be strictly scientific about it.

Maybe this is close minded of me but I feel like for romance to be sapphic, at least one of the characters involved should be a woman
gold medal probably goes to “Heated Rivalry is a sapphic romance because it is both sexy AND romantic and wholesome and caring, something that could only be written by a woman”. bioessentialist stereotyping of women as inherently caring AND of irl gay male sexuality as devoid of any romance

Another thing I would really liked to do re my reading goals for 2026 is that I would like to read more 2026 releases by transfem authors who so far haven't really seen their work reflected in TFR's award.
