Catch me on the newest episode of The Patrick Scott Patterson Project this Wednesday wherever you get your podcasts.

@originalpsp.bsky.social and I were actually nemeses in our pro-wrestling days (he once dropped a metal shopping cart on me) so we had a lot to talk about.

Please spread the word!

Hard for me to emphasize enough that if you decide to reply to someone's post who is talking aobut something that makes them happy, about their life, about something they are worried, angry, or excited about, and you do the "but what about THIS" you should be blocked to oblivion.

Increasingly believe that the only ways to be able to work full-time as an artist are either benefitting from the safety of familial wealth, being part of a dual-income household, or acquiring the patronage of a Florentine banking and political dynasty that ascended to power in the 15th century

Just for my own edification, if you are BIPOC and living in Canada and write gothic horror do you mind saying hi to me on this thread?

Off the bat respectfully I know of Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Premee, Nalo Hopkinson, I love all of their work and have their books.

Also something this morning reminded me that I watched the Aquaman movie on the plane and it had some incredibly cool visuals paired with the stupidest dialogue I've heard for a while even in a superhero movie

Many cosmic horror fishmen & monstres etc

14/10 would watch again with the sound off

Okay well I don't want to pay £60 a month for gas, I guess it's ok if I go hose it out of someone else's car, right?
RIGHT?

I got snipped at the last time I went off on Trope Derangement Syndrome…but every time I see one of those graphics I get incredibly sad for my profession. Art is more than the sum of its TV Tropes tags! Our work is not “content!!” Let us not go gentle into that extremely online night!!!
I get why authors are compelled to do it, but few things make me want to read a book/story less than those tropelist pointing to the book marketing banners. I really wish they'd go away, but I guess they Do work as a marketing tactic on more people than they're off-putting to.

I dunno, man. Seems pretty wild to write an extensive piece like this and only give a cursory mention of why so many people "declined to be interviewed."

The man has sued so many people for even just TWEETING about the case. But I still gotta listen to CanLit elites play the victim? C'mon.
Opinion: A decade ago, writer Steven Galloway’s cancellation tore CanLit apart. The effects linger to this day
