trump wants to kill you. whether it’s an ICE agent shooting you, a cancer drug trial being defunded, increased air pollution, or defunding safe streets funding, the one universal thread in all of their policies is that they think the very idea of making the world a better place is a liberal hoax

If Dems do this, there isn’t a big enough “Fell For It Again” award in the world for them.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

The Dem establishment wants voters who empty their wallets for every fundraising text, show up to vote and then go home without bothering them. It *has* to stop.
Agreed. I think it's even worse: many politicians don't WANT people to do more than give money and vote. They don't want people calling them about issues, questioning their decisions. I strongly prefer politicians who come out of activism, actually care about things, and want to involve community.
100%. I honestly believe political leaders ask too little of people. The thinking is you need an extraordinarily low bar - so ask people for money or to sign something. People want to be part of something and they're eager to do real meaningful work in defense of their community and their rights.

I have 3 axioms that help me decide when to talk to people I disagree with:

1. To debate a subject is to concede that the subject is debatable.

2. To reason with a person is to concede that the person is reasonable.

3. To ask for evidence of a claim is to concede that the claim might be true.

I know that's not what the OP means but it's very fun to imagine the FBI monitoring the chat I have with seven other weird dads called Grinch Milking Table: Where We Milk The Grinch
DHS and DOJ were *already* monitoring all your big Signal chats, they have been doing it for years. All unvetted chats have feds in them. And it's safe to assume every 20th person in a vetted chat is a fed too. Don't let it stop you from organizing.
FBI is investigating Minnesota Signal groups tracking ICE, Patel says
FBI Director Kash Patel made the statement after right-wing media figures said they joined the chats and claimed participants were obstructing law enforcement.

California plans to electrify most rail by 2050—except the SD-LA corridor, our second-busiest route. Electric trains cost less to run and enable frequent service competitive with driving. Yet local NIMBYism blocks key upgrades while the state lacks expertise to push them forward.
Rail advocates renew push for electric trains from San Diego to Los Angeles
Electric trains offer faster, quieter and cleaner service compared to diesel locomotives. But California's rail corridors continue to suffer from inaction.

But it happened in May 2023, when Biden was president.

So no, we don’t “reform immigration detention,” we destroy ICE, CBP, and DHS. We can’t reform this soul sickness.
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.
