in 2024 i was always hearing "it sucks, but dems have to follow the polling" on immigration, which had them backing extreme far right wing bills on the border. now that there's been a huge shift to the left in polling, the response is "how about 1/100th of what you guys want". funny how that works.

lotta people haven't extricated their self-perception and sense of morality from party identification yet and, uh. boy it does some shit to people.

think about when feinstein had shooters out of nowhere. did they ever care about this lady before? no. this was not personal fandom for her.

because it's expressed as defense of the party this is taken as fandom for them, but imo, this is more often "i desperately need to have faith that SOMEONE is fighting for us" and "i identify with democrats so hard that pointing out the party's moral failures feels like an attack on my own"

coming more around to thoughts that you could prolly radicalize a bunch of people into favoring border abolition but you'd first have to let them believe all the shitty things on immigration obama and biden did were actually done by bush and trump 1 to skip the reflexive defensive self-soothing

many others have said this, but AI is a disciplinary labor tool. that’s why corporations love the idea of it even if they’re not using it much. They can shake something scary in workers’ faces and fire workers on a dime.

that the president is a rapidly decaying lunatic is the worst kept secret in the world right now

when It Happens, we are going to get countless accounts about how bad it was and how everyone knew and it's absolute malpractice that the same media that went full court press on Biden Old ignores it
"A key European ally of Trump said he was 'traumatized' by a meeting where the president’s 'psychological state' came across as 'dangerous.’ Robert Fico, the populist prime minister of Slovakia … characterized Trump as being 'out of his mind,' per a diplomat."

I mean, service dogs.

Disabled folks have a right to street protest, too.

But otherwise, yeah, do a risk assessment and err on the side of being conservative
Some of y'all are new to this shit so heads up,
DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO A PROTEST

Just saw video of ICE agents do what is natural to them -- spontaneously choose violence -- and someone was carrying their dog near a cloud of mace.

There's no reason. If you cant leave them alone, STAY HOME.

There's not going to be a White House press event about this. There's not going to be a media blitz about "domestic terrorism" around this incident. No one in the administration will tweet about this. All because white supremacist violence is encouraged by the state.

the reason I'm so heated right now is Ilhan Omar has been thrown to the wolves so many times by the Democratic establishment for saying the things the Dems are finally, YEARS LATER starting to say.

They've let Rep Omar take a lot of heat and have not used their voices enough to defend her

There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

The Dem establishment wants voters who empty their wallets for every fundraising text, show up to vote and then go home without bothering them. It *has* to stop.
Agreed. I think it's even worse: many politicians don't WANT people to do more than give money and vote. They don't want people calling them about issues, questioning their decisions. I strongly prefer politicians who come out of activism, actually care about things, and want to involve community.
100%. I honestly believe political leaders ask too little of people. The thinking is you need an extraordinarily low bar - so ask people for money or to sign something. People want to be part of something and they're eager to do real meaningful work in defense of their community and their rights.
